Congrats to this guy

It's an SE model, he should have advertised as such, not just say that it's one of 50.
Nice, clean, and low mileage.

Its 6 years old, low mileage. I raise eyebrows when a bike hasn't been ridden. May be well sorted...or not. Also, I don't get impressed by limited editions. There is nothing on that bike that makes it perform any better. Still....I hope to see it sell at a good price. That is good for all of us.

I agree about nothing special on that SE. In Canada, all SE’s are top spec bikes. Full carbon. Only black, SN on frame matches SE number. Polished covers. USD forks. Top Brakes. Leather seat. The non SE’s in canada all have USD forks. But other than this, all are options. Most have vinyl seat, plastic mud guards, steel plate holder, metal chain guard, lower end brakes but still better than most bikes. But that bike is still a very nice machine.

Good point. I was lucky enough to score a CF mud guard for less than 50 bucks from the original supplier when Norton took over the production. Also, a good point, that metal chain guard was crap. Under warranty, I just added a hundred bucks for the CF one and it is so much more durable.

Only one problem...this is not an SE. The SE's would say 961SE on the airbox side covers. They would also have the "gold tone" Brembo parts and the carbon fiber pieces. The first 50 961's we're not all SE's. The Cafe Racer spec'd bikes were also in the mix. Also during this time some bikes came to the US without the top yolk badging. At some point a bunch of badges saying 1of 50 were sent to the US importer who then sent them off to the dealers to have the owners then affix them. A "true" SE will generally have badging with a specific number. There could, of course, be exceptions. However, in the case of this bike, the airbox side covers not saying 961SE is a rather obvious sign that it is not one.

My, that is confusing.
I guess you have to get into the mind of SG to understand what he was thinking, other than larceny that is.

Complete absence of BST carbon fibre wheels !

Exactly, ALL Carbon Fibre On SE’s includes the wheels so easy to spot from far. I was told that the 1 of 50 SE’s n USA do not match the serial numbers and do not count towards the 200 SE’s. but that was not fact information from factory personnel and only a person who I trust.
Side note: all bikes switched from gold callipers in 2014. Even SE bikes.

My SE is #10 with a build date of May 2014. It has the Brembo gold components but never had the carbon fiber wheels. I don't know if the original owner didn't want them or if there was a bit of parts swapping going on even back then in the Factory.

knowing what we know now, all sorts of strange things make sense now. Or at least an excuse to blame it on. Regardless of wheels or options. A 961 is special.

SOLD. $16,000.00 NICE SALE.
CR is more out the door, but usually extras don't bring much in resale and zero on trade in.
I'm pretty impressed with this. The bike was about 19K new. Good for him.
