Comnoz oil testing revisited

Tigernut, I assume A75 = R3 (rather than one of those 750 A65s)?

I ran Silkolene in a R3 and after one weekend of track day malarkey the brand new oil had degraded to the point the oil light was on.

Much panic about the bottom end being shot etc was eventually put to bed by simply changing the oil!

Not used the stuff since.

Yes, it's a motorway to the south coast Eddie - I didn't think of it also being the BSA triple - wish I did have one of those! It can be fearsomely hot. I had to keep my Belstaff coat on as I needed the sun protection for my arms, but I had the front open and rode as fast as possible just to keep cool and get away as quick as possible. I set off every speed camera two years running but never heard anything, luckily.

I didn't know it was possible to get either of those oils here - I'd never hear od Royal Purple before - I wonder if Opie stocks it?

With the Motul, the tickover oil pressure when the engine was really hot (and with air temp of 40 degrees) was a tad over 10psi. With the Silkolene it was under 10psi (hard to be precise as the needle flickers).

The Motul 20/50 'V Twin' sounds worth looking into, especially while in France.

Opie don’t stock it but it is available, just can’t put my hands on the info as to where !
