Returned from the Classic Bike Burn-Up at Cadwell park yesterday. Had a great time, the bike going very well. Despite the rear tyre being way past best I had no problems with the handling and was using all but the last millimetre from the edge of the rear tyre, which was showing evidence of working hard judging by the amount of rubber balling-up/peeling off. Highly recommend Avon RoadRiders.

Disappointingly (but not surprisingly) mine was the only Commando on track. In fact I only saw one other Commando which was parked outside the toilets. British bikes seen on track were - 2 x BSA A65 track bikes. 2 x Manx Norton's. 2 x Seeley's (possibly G50's). 1 x T160 Trident road bike. 1 x Bonneville Thruxton. 1 x Trevor Nation Rotary look-alike. Pretty sure T. Nation wasn't riding this as I passed it on two occasions. Majority of bikes were Japanese with plenty of two strokes. Also 3 Ducatis, 2 Laverdas and 3 BMW's. I estimate British bikes made up approx. 5% of the total.

Top marks to the rider of an MZ ETZ 250 seen on Saturday morning in the novice group.

There's a pre 1990 classic bike track day at Cadwell, friday 26th sept 2014, £99.

Why don't you come to Beezumph run by TR3OC ?
95% British bikes in several classes, always plenty of Commandos.

I'll definitely consider it for next year. How much track time do you get for your money? I assume riders are split into novice, intermediate etc. and are allowed to go as fast or slow as they like i.e they're not parade laps?

It is not a parade.
the only speed restricted class is the "novice" - no overtaking and staying behind the marshall
There are several to choose from ie Classic, Fast, Touring, race. It's obviously best to choose the right category, but this can be altered on the day to faster or slower if you think you are in the wrong class.
Each session is 20 mins, and usually 6 or 7 is fitted in.
Better details are in www.tr3oc.co.uk

Sam's right, Beezumph is a fantastic event, both on and off track.

@ Sam... The VMCC festival of 1000 bikes is on next year, 2nd weekend in July. It would be awfully good if a clash between the two events could be avoided next year.

I spoke to Rob Beal of Classic Bike Track Days who ran it and he said the problem is getting the message to real classic owners...they have a lot of support from 80s/90s sports bike owners....But they would like to see more...

II trust the MZ rider had L plates ;-)

The parades and races alsoo lacked British twins, Lloyd Dickinson who entered on his Norton rode a Triple and his TZ350....

A few singles, if you like the big strokers there were a few...
