Looks like old CF as all the trump cards again

Suspension setup in MX bikes is like hairdressing styles - changes every week.
Wonder what next weeks flavor will be ?

And somehow I can't see too many folks fitting $2000 sets of Ti fork springs into their Commandos. But I could be wrong, there are lots of [ Deleted before LAB got to it ].

P.S. This was flavor-of-the-month some years back, more for road use though.
Springless, air does all the work.
Picked it up for a song...

Maybe you should offer all the works MX teams the benefit of your expertise on suspension? Come to that the MotoGp people are also using linear Ti springs, so you can probably help them out at the same time!

BUT all the silly M-X belcrank linkages were described as RISEING RATE .

Progressive rate springs will give a less jarring ride , if properly selected.
Like my Triton . :D 8) :p

If I were you blokes , Id forget all about it , and go Hi Tech , with HANDLEBAR STREAMERS , instead . :D

Most linkage systems are rising rate, and the actual rate can easily be changed through either an adjustable link or substituting a different part. In real terms progressive springs (most of which are cosmetic only) are far more like handlebar streamers, with the only difference being they cost quite a bit more money.

My handlebar streamers handle better than yours. AND they're longer.

If only I could get some progressively wound handlebar streamers. The ultimate.

Get hold of an HD chopper with anchor chain chassis to go with the streamers and you really would have arrived..............

Is there an echo in this forum ??

There is a suspension "expert" who seems to have come by his knowledge using google..................lol

I seem to remember a post from someone suggesting progressive springs were all the rage on MX bikes? Could this person have perhaps been mistaken........................lol

There is a shop just down the road here that can open shocks and completely redo them - even sealed units. Do a good job, had a (sealed) monoshock done 15 years ago and still going strong. Interesting stuff....

This spring is available now for your KTM.
Not an insignificant name.
One of just a large range.

What you can't google, and folks have been asking since it happened, is was the spring that hit Felipe Massa in the head a development Ti spring. And when did they get them to work.
F1 Teams seem to not like to give out that info....

Ti springs have been in use for a very long time, and are now fitted to several production machines. If there had been any possible issues related to safety, they would certainly never have been used in F1, MX, MotoGp, and even less likely on over the counter production bikes!

Ti springs obviously mean reduced weight, but they also provide higher levels of performance in extreme conditions encountered during serious competition, with the only downside being the high cost over steel springs.

I certainly only have a very basic understanding of suspension, but what I do know comes from people who have been manufacturing top quality motorcycle suspension parts for many years, so no real need to google and then post the results on here!

But this is the crux of this whole thing. We all ride Nortons because of what they are, what they do, but more importantly, how they do it. Give me the feel of a Norton anyday over any modern race replica. When your titanium spring breaks or you want a different spring rate (progressive?), how much are they?
