thackero said:Thanks Phil. I am in Texas USA so I will try to source stateside. The ones I have found seem to be OK. and fixing brackets are as per standard peashooters. I will see if anyine else has any thoughts

stockie2 said:try EPCO they are in the US and make a top shelf stainless pea shooter. After suffering 3 broken Emgo mufflers. They tend to break where they attach to the header, I bought some EPCO, they sound really good and the finish is spot on. Also they are narrower at the junction of the taper and the stub that attaches to the header, so more clearance on the kick starter that is not a bad thing.
Cheers Richard

Can't find the pipes your talking about on fleabay but for $200 I got these from Trojan motorcycles in Belfield and they have been great made by Arion Pacific Industries
I had to make up new brackets as they were set different to the black caps (otherwise they bolt straight on) and can't fault them
Not seamless (seam around the end cone, not down the side) They sound like they should

CNW said:Hi all,
The EPCO mufflers have not been available for quite some time. Tom had them made in South America for several years, so they were actually not US made. A few years ago, EPCO turned the distribution over to Stainless Ride in Florida but they decided to stop making the Commando mufflers about a year ago. The quality of the muffler towards the end was fair as about 25% of them had to be returned since they did not work with the 1 3/8 header pipes. The inlet was to large and they would not get tight.
I used them for years on my builds and I agree that they sound great. The fact that they were stainless was also nice since they could get re-polished at any time
Since there was a void in the market place, I decided to start making a stainless muffler myself
This not a shorty muffler but rather a std peashooter length
This is not a sales pitch but rather just information of whats available out there

Just finished up on the mufflers a few weeks ago and I am moving forward with header pipes next. They will also be stainless steel and have a conical end like the MkIII header that allows for some fine adjustment
Its a different company that will be doing the headers and I have sent them some samples of what I want. They just have to make sure they have the mandrels for the specific bends.
Hopefully I will have them ready late summer / early fall
For quite some time I have been using a header pipe made by Rabers Parts Mart in San Jose, CA. It is a chrome pipe.
