Hi, does anyone have a parts diagram for the Commando S and Roadster headlamp halo, the stays and associated fixing nuts, bolts and washers, David

David, download the 1968- 70 parts list here:
http://www.eurooldtimers.com/eng/manual/76-norton-750-commando-1968-1970-.html
on page 49 bottom there is a supplement for the 1970 S7Roadster with all the part numbers for the halo, supports etc.
Rabers has the original locknut for the bottom stud 06-1362, unavailable anywhere esle...
Broken link removed
I can send you a photo of all the parts needed if you want to, I have a spare set.

Just beat me to it rivera. Walridge used to have all those parts too. But be careful, when I got a new headlamp shell from RGM it was somewhat smaller than fits in the halo, but close enough to make fit. The thread size for the side mount holes were also different in the shell. The RGM shell took UNF thread instead of CEI as I remember. I too have pics of how it all goes together.

fireflake,

notice that you have to have the correct yoke/tree assembly for the halo headlamp also. 71 and newer fork parts will not work. There's a special stud that clamps the tubes in that holds the bottom of the halo and the top of the halo is held in underneath the top yoke. Here's some pics. If you need something special I can probably come up with it. Also that bolt that holds the shell in place is a rounded head CEI thread on the original. (Shaped like the one on the gear indicator)

I have a picture and drawing of the wiring in the headlamp also if you need that.
Notice in the last picture the right side bracket is under the spacer, it goes on the outside of the spacer.

Here are the pics taken today with all the parts needed except the headlamp shell:

All those mounting points will work fine with a 1/4-28 UNF hex bolt or nut. They may be WW, but I'm not sure. My Snap-On amurikun socket set fit on them just fine. Yes 06.0327 is a UNF bolt, I looked it up. I replaced all mine with SS except the special white headed nuts.

Hi Dog T, how difficult would it be to obtain all the info' you have amassed on your Commando S and send it to me. Obviously, it would be time consuming and I'd be willing to compensate you financially. As most of the information you've posted over time contained photbucket pictures which are no longer available, it's a not the same without images, regards, David

FF,
I'll tell you what. Go here; http://s251.photobucket.com/user/DogTi/library/?sort=3&page=1 and see if you can access all my pictures which would be in the 'DogTi's Bucket' album at the top. You should be able to download the ones you want. Notice there's also a couple sub Albums, namely the 'Commando 750 Fastback', 'Norton Finished' and the 'S Riders Handbook' album that may be of value. I can still access it directly from PhotoBucket, I'm not sure anyone else can but I haven't locked anything. Anything else is general information that's available either in this forum or that I've gleaned from members. I have a few things that may be of interest, a complete Excel spreadsheet of every nut and bolt on the S model and a few informational text files that I can send directly to you via email. I could probably zip it if it's that large but I doubt it.

Let me know if you can access Photobucket or not, the other stuff I can email. I think you're in OZ, no?

Hey, that Seifert site is missing the little white bumpers that mount on those special 'studs'. But I think he has them. Don't have a number handy.
