I don't think that shifter linkage will work like that...

It does work, apparently - or at least isn't any worse than the other option which is to have a gear lever with no linkage at a 30+ degree angle away from the rider's foot.

It looks a little odd , but I tried it and it works exellent .
Maybe they need advice from the man who made this :

Actually, that's a copy of the Clubman, and works fine. Once I sorted the master cylinder, that is. (Lockheed rear brake master cylinders are a definite weak link in Brit bikes)

ha-
looks like a new invention - a motorcycle stirrup

I will give a nod to ludwig on his inoperative install that is not like other normal over head rod linkages. I want to retain the gear indicator on Peel so will be adapting both new Norton cradle pivot and a out rigger pivot support for both short linkages and clear view over head to indicator before I nail it from off throttle, if I've forgot which one I left it in, as I don't use engine braking hardly ever at all on highways. I'll need the shifter and brake peddles fabbed up somehow, the rest is just drill and hack saw, grinder level.

Here's Joe's in progress '71 in NY this last month. Eerie presentation.

Dave, it lives!
Looks good, and clean,,,,,no oil stains on the ground either.
Glad it's all together and being ridden.

Yep, and going quite nicely I must admit. Sits in hot traffic and idle is rock solid. Handling is tight with the swingarm axle replacement and clamp addition. Comfortable above 3k rpm with the new isos and headsteady. Electrics all good (but of course). Could do with a little more power, feels stronger when it's cool, dunno what's going on there, suspect carburettion. Bit of an oil weep on the exhaust port where I had the thread repaired. Might have to take it back to be investigated. But all in all, I must admit that I'm pretty chuffed. It is quite a nice bike to ride. No longer a collection of disparate parts, it all works together as it should and it gets better every time I ride - it's loosening up a bit, I've got more trust and know more of what it's capable of. Can't stop riding it!

After-work ride with my mate Andreas last night. Quite a warm evening and a pleasant little run.
