I'm replacing my stock shocks with Hagons and can't remove the alloy knob at the top of the shock. There seems to be something retaining the knob from full removal.
Is there a pin in one of the hols in the shank of the knob? If so, what is the technique for removing it?

Note: My '68 Commando knob are fully removable simply by backing them off. This is not the same
Thanks!
Stephen

First off, why do you want to remove the knob. It is not necessary for shock r and r.
Anyhow, the little roll pin needs to be drifted out.

This is one of those rare improvements. So many lost knob.

Yes, there is a pin that prevents the seat knob from falling off, however, to remove the upper shock mounting bolt you simply need to slacken and remove the nut on the inside of the assembly, then pull the bolt out with the knob attached.

Thank you to all that replied to help. Like many procedures this one is elementary, once one knows how!!

BTW, the official shop manual is silent on the topic. I guess some things are assumed.
Cheers!
