A very rare event took place a couple of weeks ago when a brand new race track opened for business. The Ridge Motorsports Park (RMP), near Shelton, Washington hosted the Washington Motorcycle Road Racing Association's (WMRRA) third round of the 2012 season and the club was honored to be the first to race on the new track. And what a track it is: 2.47 miles and 16 turns worth of super-grippy fresh asphalt laid on a rolling landscape to provide numerous, challenging, blind turns. Every body who rode it seemed to love it, even those who crashed!

I guess that every race winner is now also a class lap record holder and so a Commando holds the 750 Vintage lap record, although out of fairness to the opposition I have to ask if a 850 can actually hold a 750 class record? probably not. Any way here's a pic of a Commando plunging down the track's signature feature: "The Ridge".

Gosh what a neat feeling that shows powering a Command down a nice bend. Will have to put this on my list to try next year or so, w/o crashing.

Wow cool new track, that "Ridge" looks like that down hill S at Laguna Seca. I think they call it the cork screw? Your bike looks very fun too, more pictures of it please.

HOO-HAH! That blind apex, off-camber lefty leading into the framed shot looks like a hold-your-breath moment! kinda like the one at Grattan, MI, only about twice the width and length.

Cool.

I recognize another Becker Norton when I see one... That was one of his earlier bikes where he played with the extra frame cross member a la Seeley.
Good to see you bring it out to play. You should bring it out to Mid-Ohio, I will be there.

I'd love to get to some of the bigger AHRMA race meetings. The back-to-back weekends at Road America & Grattan are particularly tempting, but it's a 4 or 5 thousand mile round trip from Seattle and right now the bike is an 850 so not even legal for most AHRMA classes. I'm working on a 750 motor which should be ready for next year, then I'll be out of excuses.
