I have started to use a hydraulic brake light switch as an alternative for the original and the switch is 1/3 of the price and slightly smaller than the original so the protective boot fits better
The switch is used for British cars and was listed for an Austin Healey # 27H4764 and is available from British Car parts suppliers . The switch is an " Intermotor" brand and their # is 51630 and may be available from a local Automotive parts supplier. The good news is the price is only $13.90.

Front or rear (MkIII) brake? Pic?

The hydraulic switch works on the front hydraulic master as well as the rear of MK111. The US suppliers are Moss Motors and their part # is 560-480 at $12.95 and Victoria British and their part number is 8-391 at $12.95. The best Canadian supplier is Octagon Motor Group and their part is 27H4754 at $13.90. I have no financial interest in these companies. Robin

Steve,

Easy on the Bumble Bee wires. While the wires themselves are simple copper, and look great, the caps supplied with them are crap. I installed a set on my TR3 and found 2 out of the 4 caps open (each proudly carrying the "Made in England" appelation). The yellow/black wires remain; the caps have been replaced by a Summit Racing product.

Oh sure,,,, now you tell me there is an alternative replacement,,, :? after I spend the $30. :(

The new switch came in a Lucas box and is a tad smaller then the original.

I thought my original switch worked but apparently it doesn't. This is a great tip and I'll be picking one up soon.

I may have found a better source for this switch. If you are looking to get one I should be able to post it later today.

Nice find for $5.32 but their shipping is $15.55 to east coast.

Some may feel they are getting ripped off. :D

Glad there are so many minds helping find the good stuff out there. My points fired Trixie gets Ms Peel's old Bumble Bee leads from Moss, minus their boots thank you. Ms Peel wears a Harley front brake switch with flat blades but both of them may have this little do dad fitted I stumbled on hunting up switches.
ABS like traction control. This is the TCB home but better prices found in Harley catalogs.

Holy crap. It would be cheaper for me to drive to Dayton... of course it's only about 30 miles.

Ah, jeez, $12 for me. I will be driving down there.

No retail storefront, so no go. Still even with shipping I bet it's cheaper than anywhere else.

It looks long but I haven't pulled the one off the master cylinder yet. hobot said his stock one measured .542 in. I held this one up to the master cylinder and thought it was long at .375 in.

Still for about $15 shipped if it works it's not bad.

Harley has same item but might pay premium for the brand name source even though no name on the switch.

It looks close but the threaded part is even shorter than the one I got. It might work. At $12 and Rock Auto has way better shipping rates than British Parts NW it might be worth a shot.

Rock Auto lists a metric  mechanical switch for the Austin-Healy 3000, which is what was originally cross referenced in the first post.

I spent awhile trying to search Rock Auto for the Healy part, and the switches that search returned did not look like this one. Their shipping IS reasonable.
