Coming out of the workshop I wind the throttle full open. There's a jet like howl from the back end and the front wheel skips two or three times before rearing wildly into the air and stays there for a mile or two. Coming over the Mittagong top bridge I'm approaching 150mph and ready to snick it into second gear. On the first left hander the clocks reading 175mph and the left peg is grinding heavily into the road with a shower of sparks behind from the rapidly disintegrating left peashooter. The magic mile comes and goes in three seconds flat and I'm overtaking cars going backwards relatively at over 200mph. I decide now to really open her up. Coming out of the right hander there's nothing left of my right knee pad and now at 300mph and three miles from Berrima I start heavy braking. No parachute on this baby. I stop outside the pub (only just) in plumes of smoke and the rear tyre is on fire. Warwick tips his 30th beer on it (I say I'll shout him one, but forget). There are no blinkers or rear mud guard even left. The front calliper has melted onto the disc and the engine is rattling badly. Not the effing mains again I scream!!
I tell Warwick the trip took 45 seconds flat.
He says he's done it in 44.
On the bike he owns but no one has ever seen.
Must be a Mach III with ten jet engines in it.
It was fun to ride the Unapproachable Combat.
The Dragonfly was nothing on this!
Now I'll have to go and buy another one.
This one's stuffed!!
I wonder if Norton still offer a warranty?
