Some of this conversation might lead one to wonder if you're having bits flying around inside your engine already (before the oil pump seizes), shouldn't you be aware of the issue?

I'm glad for you grandpaul that you havn't experienced the most ancient and accepted and expected engine failure mode, ie: all seems fine- tii ~ o.19034 sec. of tickling sound sense of parts chewing to pump or draim passage swallowing sizes, then ~.003 sec later the brain begings to registers the sound and .05 sec. after that brain resisters the after effects till tire squealing tire stops or the sliding bouncing of bike and pilot do. On the other hand we have cases like comnoz with piston detonation damage noisey 1000's of miles away from home and almost back that his wisdom to provide oil pump screen saved its specialness.

I did experience the sleeping bag in the rear sprocket mode of close asphalt inspection once...

Yeah I was just being snide as I know you raced and went down some so a silly question of why to filter oil pump intake as no way to catch it in time, ugh.

I raced, 30+ events, but never went down. Lost a muffler on the last lap and got black flagged once (Barber), ran off in the kitty litter and right back on once (Miller), and had a coil terminal short under the tank with 2 laps to go once (Willow). Finished every race and never went down besides those three.

Alright then grandpaul, mis read your drop situation, so just normal dangerous public road events out the blue having nada to do with bike or pilot issues.
