The E start upgrade installed over a year ago continues to operate flawlessly. I have pulled the primary cover a few times just to inspect how everything was getting along in there and all I could find was a little bit of belt dust residue from early break-in...otherwise it looks the same as the day I installed it.
I called Matt once during installation to confirm I was interpreting the installation instructions correctly. They were well written but I needed to make myself feel better with confirmation.
This starter kit and the front brake upgrade are two of what are now quite a few upgrades from CNW that I am really happy with.
I had the kick start technique down pretty well but pushing a button is a whole lot easier and brake upgrade stops things a whole lot quicker.

My dealings with Matt has been a absolute pleasure...his communication skills are second to none ...& his parts are top notch...If I ever decide to install a e start the CNW unit would be the only one I would choose.

Looks like my old school way of doing things is dying out, the way things are going I be the only one left still kicking, I be kicking for the rest of my life as I just can't afford or justified to spend that much on just one upgrade, I do have money put aside but that is for living and incase money.
But I like my old ways it's a dying art of kicking a bike to life, hopefully I will be able to do it for ever.

So many people buying old classic British bikes who have no idea in how to kick them to life and try to kick them like a old Honda or something, not knowing the secret knack, but I been kicking mine for over 46 years now and learned the knack within a few weeks after buying it new.

Kick starter- Anti theft device
Years ago, back in the 70's, some friends would ask if they could ride it.
Sure, if you can start it, you can ride it.
Only one person succeeded. My very best friend who had seen me start it numorous times.
All others failed.

p.s. Didn't want them riding it anyway....just my way of saying no.

I ordered my cnw estart months ago. I hope it is worth the wait. My surgically repaired leg won't be kicking a bike anytime soon if ever. I'm glad I got it at last year's price.

It's good that these great upgrades are on offer and CNW and Matt spending their time and money to make these improvements to our old Norton's and they need to make money for their efforts and they deserve it, but not everyone has that sort of money to spend my whole Norton's life I had spent my money wisely to improve it over the 46+ years and doing things on a tight budget, but there are so many upgrades these days that weren't around in my days when I built my hotrod Norton.
I give Matt and his team praise for what they do, but they are in business to make money and good on them for their outlay in time and money to make money to keep our old bikes going but as I said in my upgrade thread it's good if you have the money to do these things, but for the little money I have spent in over 46 years with my Norton I think I done well for the money I spent in that time to still have reliable hotrod Norton.
So thanks Matt and his team keep up with what you do best.

My daughter can't drive but her live in BF has only a auto licence as his mum only had a auto, they have no car and offered to give them our Toyota 5 speed manual so far have given the no hopper 4 driving lessons and he still can't get it right, bloody hopeless.

I think the cnw estart saved my knee, it was beginning to hurt and ache after kicking he 850, not even a twinge since installing it. I removed the kicker reasoning they my car doesn't have a crank handle. You won't be disappointed.

Nowadays I leave the key in the ignition where it belongs . Not overnight .But at my age only rallys and campgrounds.

Just recently I watched a gentleman in his late 70's kickstart his Vincent, he spent probably 90secs setting it up for the start and then gave it a gentle prod where it immediately burst into life all while wearing boat shoes. So yes, there is definitely a technique to kickstarting that does not require brute force.

I have a couple of these shirts and some kids have actually asked me what does that mean?

My son drives a Kia, the notoriously easy to steal vehicle.
His has a stick shift, never been touched.
Here in Switzerland they recently changed the law for learners. You can pass your driving test in an auto and you are now allowed to drive a manual as well on the same licence. Crazy in my eyes.

I agree completely with your thinking, but...

I have a lot of joint problems. Left hip replaced a while ago. Right hip has been a problem off and on since I was a teenager. A couple of weeks ago I had a visitor on his Combat and he said he was having trouble starting it. So, I said I would show him. I did, but that may have been my last kickstart. It seems that was the last straw for that hip - I can barely walk and it's getting worse by the day. Even when I get the right one replaced, it will take a year to get it back to "normal" and normal for a replaced hip means walking without pain - it does not mean kickstarting!

So, do I stop riding or do I install an electric start? It's already a problem because I have three finished bikes except for the final riding tests, and I can't do them.

6 speed is way newer than anything I ever saw growing up. I learned to drive a big ol' Chevy Suburban when they were still called "Carry-All". 4-speed Stick shift had 3 bends in it to clear the seat and the under-dash A/C console.

Greg,
A bike that you can't start is kind of useless. The estart does add value to the bike.
