Hi all,
just about to finish a good driving season and get in the last couple rides before winter lay-up when the bike has developed a problem. When I engage the clutch its not working.... neutral to 1st gear will grind I checked adjustment in primary watched movement of diaphram when working the lever all seems book ok however things are still rolling in there and the gears will not mess up only grind the clutch does not seem to be operating. so my question is what has happened to cause this? Just to give a little more info I noticed the last couple rides during shifting when cold the clutch seemed to drag a bit then go away after machine warmed up. also I did make several handle lever adj lately as well. I did a "by the book" clutch/adjustment and like I said looks to be engaging when pulling on the lever nothing unusual to see here, but it definitely isn't working cause I can't put it in gear like that sob/lol checked belt and chain tension all ok too so ?

Your primary chain and main chain may need tensioning correctly, as soon as I get these symptoms thats my first task. If this does not work or only partially works then run through the clutch adjustment procedure.

Either loosened clutch hub nut or pop circlip behind clutch hub. That is my first inclination. Very common.

Sounds like it's time to pull the primary cover off and pull the clutch plates out and check the circlip and chain slop as above. Also could be the mainshaft nut in the trans on the timing side, but unlikely, but worth a look if primary side work doesn't do it.

could be oil fom the gearbox wich got through by the pushrod and into your clutch ,actually between your clutchplates , making them stick together. If it is the nut coming loose then you have seem to keep taking up slack at either the handlebar or the other adjusters so that seems unlikely as you did not mention that .idem circlip .Rip it apart and look .There is not much to it .you do need a clutch-compresser but that is easy to make yourself (
