clutch problem

on my 69 commando 750 i replaced the clutch hub bearing and installed new clutch plates and diaphram have the correct spacers in place and to get a clutch i have to screw the clutch drag adjuster way in it seems and the cable adjuster at the lever way out. i repositioned the lever on the transmission side and didnt really see nay diffrence can someone point me in the right direction?

Check the clutch actuater arm in the gear box

Check the roller that the clutch actuating arm works against. They can develop a flat spot.
