It’s worse than that. I am receiving push back now from Judd about ordering parts. It’s the same story about we didn’t build that bike etc. so we can’t sell you parts from Norton. I asked about the parts waiver for fitment issues and still waiting to hear back. It’s not looking good for me at the moment .
That’s interesting and telling to me. As is re-reading Judd’s response to Jansen (missed the full response he’d attached).
The standard response that we have received from Norton many times is:
Judd (or Norton) added the below in response to Jansen - using the above to effectively refuse spares support:
Norton’s original wording is ambiguous and easily misinterpreted - my guess is that every time this issue surfaces, we have different people (at Judd/ Norton) trying to interpret Norton’s original response - It’s like dealing with this issue for the first time every time.
Looks to me like the above has been misinterpreted once again, because it’s ambiguous
and because it is used as a stand alone response and not what it actually was - part of an ongoing conversation from when the Solihull factory opened and they were deliberating over stock holdings of legacy parts.
The first part describes why Norton Solihull would not sell stock holdings of Donington era parts to Donington owners - understandable IMO. It then goes on to state that Norton
will sell Solihull parts to Donington owners but with no guarantee that they will fit.
Judd (Norton?) has likely missed this, cos it’s buried in the conversation and is ambiguous:
I agree it is frustrating but IMO we need to keep plugging away, keep the frustration well in check (when dealing with Judd/Norton) and continue to remind Norton of their own stated course of action.
My opinion - we see how Judd/Norton finally respond to myself, Jansen and Tony and go from there. If the spares are supplied, then maybe we hobble-on with the current hit and miss system. If we’re rejected, we seek a definitive response from Norton and escalate.
As a group of approx 3000 Donington owners we ‘beta tested’ the 961 for years (effectively allowing Norton/Skinner) to identify faults, information which Norton/Skinner have used to redesign parts. The very parts that they now (potentially) refuse to sell us? Our case is pretty strong, IMO it’s likely a matter of bringing it to the attention of the right person - difficult but doable.
We’re smart, articulate and motivated enough to keep challenging Norton for a better outcome. I think we should do that - if they decide to block parts sales
