Clutch Cable Failures?

Grease is the word.
Molybdenum disulfide to be exact. Or: "moly grease".

I see so many people who view oil & grease as "filth", and are reluctant to use enough of it, if any.
The pivot bolt. EVERYTHING that moves.
I use something called Lock Ease. It is Molybdenum disulfide in a solvent with propellant. It has a tube attached to the spray nozzle, so the stuff does not go where you do not want it. A little squirt and the solvent carries the grease into tight places like the clearance gap between the barrel and the lever. Works a treat on the brake and throttle cables as well. I do not use it on the clutch cable as it is a Teflon lined Venhill an does not need lube.

Slick

20+ plus years of ownership , clutch cable that was on bike at purchase failed couple months in … replaced with standard cable from britcycle , kept cable lubed and send a very sticky spray on grease on lever/barrel area , I will have to check name on can in morning , had a case of stuff at work and bonused myself a can …. Only cable fail was that first one , kept an eye and fail point and kept that grease on it just a short occasional spit of it ….

Lock ease contains graphite, not grease. Grease would make lock tumblers stick and malfunction.
