Clutch actuating mechanism thoughts

I've tried lots of different setups on my 69 and nothing seems to beat the stock setup. If I reduce the pressure at the clutch handle it slips, if I increase the clutch rod play it grabs. My bike has a very narrow tolerance for the clutch setup, but when it's right, it's right. Extra plated don't work for me. I'm still on my original postage stamp 750 clutch pack and the pack height is what DD recommends. It only seems to work there.
