Cleaning my old lundray out

Had to clean out my old lundary yesturday to repair my gas hot water system, after getting the hot water systen fixed the old concrete floor was a mess so decided to pull every thing out so I could jack hammer the old concrete as well remove the old concrete wash tubes, man are they heavy, under the old wash tubes I found a full bottle of home brew beer that I made over 20 years ago still filled to the top covered in dust, I cleaned the bottle, looked at it and put it in the beer fridge.
I found 2 bottle of my home brew a few years ago which had been sitting for about 20 years and put them in the fridge, it took me awhile to think about giving then a taste to see if they were still OK to drink and one night I got the dutch curry to open one with a mate, after taking the cap off it went off with a pissss which was a good sign and when I poured it in my beer glass it pour like it was brewed a few weeks ago and had a nice head on it, I use to brew Coppers Ale, but made it with extra sugar to make it a stronger alco contents, anyway that beer tasted very nice indeed and had bubbles right down to the end.
So this new find I can't wait to give it a go, if it goes pisss when I open it, all good, I use to put the brew date on the cap when I bottled them but the cap is nice and rusty, there was another bottle with it but the cap had rusted through and was half empty, bummer.

Hi Ash, I wish I was there to give that old beer a go with you. Hope it is a good one.

And I would bring a case as a backup in case we were disappointed and needed something to make us feel better...LOL...

The problem with my beer fridge is its alway got beer in it, when the wife is out shopping she always phone up to see if I need any more, maybe she is driving me to drink, maybe I got to think about this, now where did I put that last beer LOL

Jean you have to line up, all my mates that have had the chance to ride my Norton have put up their hands for it after I have dropped off the perch, hopefully the old beer will be fine, going to crack it open Saturday, will let you know how it was, if you don't hear from me after Saturday....

Still here, haven't opened it yet drank to many of my nomal beers so will wait till I get the chance to open it tomorrow afternoon after I do some concreting, watch this space.

Well cracked it open last night, vintage 1990, it was one of my malt brews, when poured in the beer glass it had a nice small head on it and bubbling all the way up the beer and had bubbles right to the end, mmmmm tasted nice, so I survived just wish there was anohter one, who said beer goes off.

Glad the beer was good. At my first room and board the man of the house used to brew beer and keep the bottles in the hallway. Every once in a while a bottle would explode without warning and nearly always in the middle of the night. I guess he wasn't very good at it.

One lot of brew I put down when I was brewing when bottling them after the brewing prosess you have to put 3gs (a small teaspoon) of sugar in the bottle for the second fermentation, I got my teaspoon mixed up and I added 5gs (larger teaspoon) of sugar in the bottles and they need 2 weeks for the second fermentation to work before they can be drank, because of my mistake out of 36 large bottles I lost 24 of them from exploding before the 2 weeks were up, they were exploding at anytime of the day and night and they went off with a loud bang, but the 12 that survived were a nice drop of beer.

I been told natrual brew beer will last for a very long time without going off, unlike comercial beer which has a short self life because of the quick brewing prosess..

When I was making wine back in my college days, I once failed to put sufficient sulphites in to halt the fermentation. Two bottles exploded in the dead of night .... my room mates simply ignored it .... they thought I was just shooting in the house.

When I was a teenager my parents did similar with home made Elderberry wine, a couple of bottles popped their corks and emptied themselves over the kitchen floor.

Whereby the wine was lapped up by our two very large Rodehsian Ridgeback dogs...

So when I got back from the pub in the early hours, I was greeted by two very pissed up Ridgebacks!!

For a while, I lived alone in a small cabin, and one night the cat jumped up on a makeshift wine rack that was placed high, next to the front door, toppling it. The resulting crash woke me from my sleep in the next room. I was convinced someone had kicked in my door, and I sat up in bed, pistol cocked, heart pounding, in a cold sweat, until the odor of wine quaffed into the bedroom. What a relief!
