Changing crank main bearings

Never had any probs. installing the superblends. Never needed to use shims. Removing the inner .. well had no puller, just used a dremel cutter as the original RHP were to be junked anyways , cutting at the inner stopping just short of touching the crank end(s) . Then a little heat gun then one tap with the right sized chisel with no chance of connecting with the crank end did it. Not the best way but it worked being quite careful. The old bearing body fell out easily with standard oven heat , just listened for the clunk then opened the door.

Have done similar removals so you'll get no criticism from me on the home grown procedure.

I've seen much worse. John Nelson, Norton Villiers International Service Manager, had a handful of RHP bearings that had been sent back to Wolverhampton by G. Koerner, the German Norton importer. They were chipped completely all around and the full width of the area that the rollers contacted, some places deeper than other and more "mouse-eaten" than others the total working surface of the crankstub race. I've rarely seen such a total mess in my life.
