could a post with all the before and after pics be put up for a better side by side comparison?

never mind, I found the pics

I voted, it's great to see these things resurrected like this and ALL the bikes are VERY nice but the change before and after was INCREDIBLE on the bike I voted for. The pride that comes from turning a "pile-o-scrap" into a shiny, living, breathing thing is what keeps me playing with old bikes and it sure is nice to see that I'm not alone!

Since one choice was added later, can we change our vote? Otherwise it's less than totally fair...

Yes -you can change your vote as many times as you wish, but you only get one vote.. Also it was zeroed at the restart so you must vote again anyway,

cheers

I can't decide! they're all too good, but I will say a few things....

71 Basket case; this one definitely started looking like a lost cause, and the end result, especially considering the cash spent for what he got, puts this one in my top three. A bike you could ride and be very proud of, top shape.

John Dwyer's restoration is one of those that looks like it was on a 1970 showroom floor just last week. nicely done, just beautiful. makes me wish I kept mine yellow instead of painting it black, but that's one of my favorite stones songs.

Matt01's project started not too unlike '71 basket's. Though I'm not too thrilled with the hi-rider concept, his enthusiasm for bringing it back is well shown, and brother Matt, it's still not too late to make a proper roadster out of it. good work, let's get that thang finished!!

norbsa48503 has, like Mr. Dwyer, sent us back to the future. From what I've read about this project, it is a collaborative effort, to be sold with those proceeds going to an essential non profit in the Detroit area. My hat's off to you mates. Outstanding work.

JeanDR's cafe racer... WOW, I'm almost speechless. If that scooter were a woman, whaddaya think, Brigitte Bardot? I wish this guy lived down the road from me; he's been sharing his knowledge, trials and tribulations here quite generously. A cool cat and an innovative craftsman/artist, with one of my favorite bikes, ever.

Jack Adams' bike is well, just plain scary. I imagine just 1/3 of that throttle would clear out all of my arteries. I'm not sure what the dollar per horsepower ratio may be here, but he's got a rocket for the price of, maybe a twin engine Cessna? real fine work, sir.

Todd Biller's 850; though I'm a rocker at heart, I respect this brother's meticulous job of taking a so-so chopper, and reworking it into a most unique and striking bobber. For me, my 52 year old lower back would have me at my HMO after 20 minutes on this machine! Expert work, probably makes some of the Harley guys jealous.

Hungrey JOe's mkIII is similar to what I'd do with my old bike if I had the time and money. Very much a state of the art build, he hired the right guy, Paul Zuninga. Paul's a master at his work, who takes the time and effort to share whatever you want to know, and more. around here, we call that "aloha spirit" . It is real, and one of the better things in this life. Nice work Paul... I hope you broke even on this one!

Paul Sammut, like John Dwyer and norbsa, has put us in a time warp... is this what's inside a black hole, all the coolest stuff from the past, only better? very nice, proper interstate. I'm not sure where Paul lives, but I have no doubt this scooter can take him wherever he wants to go, in style... mexico, alaska, the possibilities are endless. I'm sure you're proud of it Paul, as it makes all us Norton owners feel a little pride, no matter what shape our bikes are in!

Dave M's 750 looks just a little like my bike. And Dave, once I saw it posted here a while back, I found it most inspiring. It's a bit more contemporary looking than the time warp jobs mentioned earlier, but keeps the classic feel. Not long after seeing photos of this bike, I filled the vacant fork lock hole in my yoke with a 1965 Hong Kong dime.... so far so good! beautiful work sir.

Happy new year and good luck too all!

Cheers,

Don

I almost forgot... since I can't decide, if anybody wants to send me 25 bucks, I'll vote for them. That's not against the rules, is it?

edited: Sorry that just is not right.

I've been told that my sense of humor can be marginal at best... sorry if it offends! good luck to all, ride safely (it's in the mid 70's with clear skies today, if I finish early I'll take an early evening run)

to change vote just login as usual and select the radio button for you new vote then submit.

71 basketcase looks like he's running away w/ the votes.
Just remember to prop something up against that tree to hold it up
since the Norton is no longer serving that purpose. :P
Great job to all, I've enjoyed it so far.

I had a hard time deciding, but since I like something different than stock, it was a difficult choice between a certain VR880 clone and a Ducati inspired MKIII, one of those two got my vote by a very slim margin. With this poll, I can see what is a bike that will sell versus a bike that I would like for myself :D Now if someone had entered a metalflake blue "S" it would have received my vote without even looking at the others

LOL.... actually, the tree came down in a nor-easter

I have to say that I'm flattered! I certainly don't regard myself in the same league as, say, JeanDr or Grandpaul.... I just wanted to get a little greasy and work my wife slowly into letting me get bike ( it worked) ... but my dear strunzo will be with me until I can't kick it any longer, by then my son hopefully will be able to figure out the right hand shift

p.s....... there should be a most sexy category, IMHO, Jeandr would win THAT category hands down!

71 basketcase,
I should have all the bike riders on this forum assembled under one roof,
We would have 72 hours to assemble the most unique Norton.
With the variation in riders Nortons have we would have something cool.
Food, drink, fellowship, a few friendships made and one cool bike.
I'm tired of watching American Idol
I know some of you are thinking WTF?
Thee Marshal
