I have this Amal on my bike and I dont know the model. The slide sticks and I want to see if there are parts for it I can get.

In the end I want to get manfolds and dual Amals. Not enough money though at the moment!!!

Anyone know which one this is by looking at it? No tickler...

That is an Amal Mk2 Concentric. Someone who knows them better may be able to say which one, without actually measuring its insides.

Could be worth having a close look at the twistgrip and throttlecable, and even just the throttlecable path before condemning it....

If there aren't any numbers stamped on the pad on the side then there should be some stamped on the flange above the float chamber facing the engine. You are looking for somefting like 2934/300 which is a 2900 Series carb with a 34mm venturi.

I ran a single 34 MK2 and found it to be somewhat weak all around. It was ok for grandma but you really really really need 2.

You need dual 36s to do 10.5 sec 1/4s . . . :p

BEWARE " match Pair " LIKE SHOCKS , is a Matched Pair . . . somer Spanish .Even differant wear will foul the equation .

Twin 40 pumper Dellorottos arnt Bad . Twin 34 mk IIs should be perfectly adequate , if the manifolds are clear bore = no kinks .
32s do a 750 nicely.Equivilant 2 mm up on mk 1s , so 32 mk II = 34 mm mk 1 , flowwise . . . so they say . Chokes Essential for cold start .

I think Dean raced his against the whizz bangs on 32s much later 34s at the end . notta badda carba eh .

Just enjoy it for now , see how it goes if you ' whack it on ' .

yea my bikes not fast at all. I "whack it" and it kinda burps along faster and faster. Im sure dual carbs would be an improvement.

Matched pair of course!

Just some head scratching here.
Only one cylinder is sucking in at a time and the charge of air capable of entering the cylinder is the size of the valve opening.
Why wouldn't a 34 MK2 be enough?
Is the modern Amal any different than the Mikuni it resembles? I've had a Mikuni on a Veetwin of mine for years now and have not had any problems with power compared with the S&S B model it replaced.

Just wondering.

Was thought the tapered port ( 30 @ vurve , 32 @ flANGE HEAD WAS WONDEROUS 0 mK iii tYPE ? ), ACCIDENTLY ENDED UP WITH THIS ( 73 750 TAPERED TO 32 A MANIFOLD & COUSTOM TUNED ooops
length intakes 14 IN VALVE head to jet ), which idled at 2000 on two & 1100 on one , or stopped . Shortened them , ' for some reason ' 500 rpm idle .

The mega as shown wasnt noisey . . . till 3.000 rpm , then had a raspy sawie sound , somewhere out the back .
Always intended to do twin 1 7/8 in dia. high ( ss ) pipes , with a pair :D   SOMEDAY .

The Mk IIs were regarded as ' SMOOTH BORE ' , (still clean up throats if pedantic , with emery ) aledgedly ' mikuni busters . 70 mpg @ 70 plus ( or more ) aint to bad. 23 T on box .
22 was a better idea , maybe .

No ticklers to leak , no silly chioke slides , just ' enricher levers ' ( or the non available cables ) And Float Vent Tubes . Need nailing together , as a pair ( tie bar ) , and maybe a spring / whatever , to cary weight , rather than ' rubber connectorsa to Manif .

Just used 1/8 in. plate , Ex pipe bends , brazed , with brass silver soldered on thingos as per carb dimn. / groove / dia . Nice Smooth Curve tangental , not kinked . Raises em A LITTLE .
So the Trial posn fit essential for clearance to gusset under seat nose .

etc .
