Can you advise on .250 inch versus .340 inch manual internal diameter anti oil sumping valve

I am a new 1973 Commando 850 Owner and my bike came with a manual anti oil sumping valve fitted on the line between the oil tank and the feed to the engine oil pump. This valve has an internal diameter of .340 inches.

I am keen to have the ignition locked out if I have not opened the valve so I bought a manual valve from Feked in the UK that has an electrical contact on it that I can wire to interrupt voltage to the ignition if the valve is off. This valve has an internal diameter of .250 inches compared to the .340 inches internal diameter manual valve that came with the bike.

I wonder if the Feked valve diameter is too narrow and will possible restrict the oil flow into the oil pump. Can anyone tell me if they use this Feked on their Commando successfully, or comment as to whether the 0.250 inch internal diameter is ok or not for oil flow

With thanks

I haven't used that valve but do have other versions on both my 850 and ES2. As long as the ID through the valve is no less than the ID of the pipes on the junction block then i wouldn't worry.

Agree, plenty of flow through either size. The pump is essentially gravity fed as the gear type mechanism doesn't make much of a suction effect.
The spring loaded ball type anti sump valves have very much less flow when open and don't seem blow up engines (unless they fail to open).

I made an anti wet sump manual valve using hardware store water valve with full flow open diameter same as hoses. Added a micro switch to ignition as a safety cut out. Been great for four years now.
