Hi all
I need to remove metal from my camshaft tunnels & the keeper plate?
7S being fitted.
Any photos anyone?
The correct method of marking the material to be cut? Marking blue?

hi chris,as well as the keeper plates you,ll need to releive the bottoms of the cam follower tunells in the barells ,i did it a little at a time and kept checking clearance ,just remove as much as you need to

7S?? YUK!!!

You can use a normal flap wheel from B&Q or whatever is nearest to you! you probably won't need to remove much though!

John I have swapped the cam for a PW3!!!! I know you dont like the 7 but it came with the bike.
I am doing a dry build on the Seeley Mk2 & not enjoying it. Half the bolts foul the bottom frame tubes & you cant fit the welded headsteady once the engine is in the frame. With it on the head you loose any movement of the engine in the plates as it holds the top end tight. I have found I can slip the timing side rear engine plate out & intoduce the gearbox from that side.

Sounds like you're having fun :-0 Now you know why I prefer a Mk3!! At least you can drop the motor out in a hurry!! I use metalastics in my headsteady, all other engine bolts 10mm and the plates/cases reamed out to match for a tighter fit. never had a problem with vibes running 78% (Kuhn figures!) The headsteady is a 3 piece, a 1/2 inch plate to the head, and 2 x 1/2 inch plates on each side screwed down from the top with the metalastics bored and fitted to them, then just a bolt through to the frame on each side, works a treat!!

love the carb gantry. I need to do something similar because the Smoothbores have such strong springs!
The tract length on the short stroke made me laugh. My local petrol station is closer.

hi john,like the short stroke featherbed, how does it compare to the long stroke regarding throttle response and max rpm
 
Hi Chris,

The short stroke is a brand new motor...well, the timing cover is used....I haven't finished it off yet, but will have it out in Snetterton in Sept, hoping to get a test day on it before then. Both motors have light cranks etc. The "standard" motor is very revvy and prety quick off the line, and at Snetterton last time just had a little top end over the triples on the Norwich straight! I'm off to Sweden on Thursday with the Seeley...twisty tracks with lots hard braking really suit it!

How is yours going??
 
hi john, both my bikes in storage at moment,(ie daughters 8by6 outhouse) lots of upheaval moved house recently so no place to work on them at mo,short stroke motor is built but unrun as yet, cant wait to get it fired up
 
Hi Chris,

I know that feeling!! I'm hoping to fire the short stroke up next week, still waiting on a new tank from Terry Baker....the fibre glass one is like a sieve at the moment! Might just bodge another one on just to fire it up though.
