Camplate plunger Housing

Hi, been absent from here for a while but just started my rebuild of one of my Commando's so may be on asking stupid questions again.

Question 1
There is no seal or washer shown or fitted to my Gearbox Camplate detent housing, in the mists of time it must have been leaking as there was silicon smeared around it (which i vaguely remember doing about 20 years ago!). What do people do to stop any potential leaks here, the metal on metal scenario doesn't seem right?
Stripped the box today and hoping to get it back together again tomorrow barring any disasters

Loctite #518, or Yamabond (Threebond) #3 will assure no leaks, can be dismantled.

I use copper washers to seal all the bolts. Never had any leaks.
