Cable Stop -02-6476 for quick twist throttle

The throttle cable I have always had had a frayed cable, so I replaced it a couple years ago after measuring it up for a slightly shorter one, as that one was always a bit too loopy and I thought had come from a US bar setup. I ordered a Venhill N01-4-109, as that is the cable that showed for a Mk2 with UK bars on their website at the time I ordered. Turns out, it is a MK3 cable, with a bend in the tube at the throttle end. The cable has a ~2.5" free length.

All good and fine and worked great until now with my alloy tank, but it binds on the front of my Interstate tank I have just installed when routed along the left side of the spine, and I dont want to mar the paint over time. Routing the cable on the right side of the spine tube causes the cable to bind and idle fast when not in a neutral/left turn position.

So, I also have what appears to be a 06-1451 cable in my spares, which has the same outer length, but no metal tube and I thought that might work better. But, after installing I find it has a much longer free length and I cannot take up the slack.

Looking at the AN site, I see that I have never had a Cable Stop -02-6476.



Can someone give me a measurement to see what the length of the shoulder is so I can determine whether or not it will take up the slack on my cable? It does not look long enough to me to make up the advertised 7/8" difference?

Not even sure if this is the correct Amal 364 quick twist type throttle? It is the one I have always had since I bought the bike. The throttle tube is a bit short for the grips tho.

I have that same throttle, among others. It has internal cable stop. AN cable stop won't fit.
I can send pix later when I get to it.

Notice the cable slit on yours.
The one's that use the stop have no slit and larger bore.

Cable needs to built with the correct free length.

Another AN foul-up.

The cable stop '15' is part of the 'standard' 06.2032 Doherty twist-grip assembly '8', (not '8A' as AN has it) with screws '10' & '11' that fit from below.



'8A', '01.6558' is an Amal (screws on top) equivalent and not 06.2032.
= 01.6558


The AN quick-action Amal (replica) assembly (screws on top) should be item '12' which is part 06.4600...


...therefore, cannot be (quick-action) 06.4600 and (standard) 06.2032 as stated.

Old Britts, however, has the twistgrip assemblies itemised correctly:

"8...062032...Throttle Twistgrip, Less Grip, Standard Twist (Emgo)"

"12...064600...Throttle Twistgrip, Less Grip, 1/4 Twist (Emgo)"

There is a cable stop that will fit 06.4600 but can't see how it could be 02.6476.

So, for the correct cable for this grip AN show it as 06.4602 for US and 06.4601 for UK bars.



However, BMP here in NZ show 4602 as having a 3 3/8" free length, which I am assuming is incorrect? (OB shows it as AN do.)


Does 06.4601 have enough length get around the front of an Interstate tank?

Maybe I can re-angle the metal tube on my 06-6714 slightly to make it work better, but I am not sure that it would work as I want.

Yes, 2.44" free length should fit without being overlength but you could check.

I would have thought so as that is the cable for "European Handlebars (Quick Twistgrip)" and there's no specific European Interstate 'bar cable. Once again, you could check if 21.25" will be long enough.

I'll have to check the length of my Mk3 cable when I get home. IIRC, it was longer than the advertised 19.25", and lined up as the same length as the one I think is a 06-1451.

If it is indeed 19.25 then a 4601 should work. I am assuming the 19.25 measurement includes the metal tube?

Also, I can't tell from the diagrams, but why is that tube on the mk3 cables?

The Mk3 USA (Western handlebar) cable measurement apparently includes the guide tube so I'm guessing the European cable does too.

As the Mk3 twist grip cable entry and guide tube have a threaded connection (and lock nut) the angle can be set so there's no drooping loop of cable.

The cable I have measures 19.25" on the outer sheath, excluding guide tube. 22.25" with the guide tube.

I measured my old cable and it must be 06-4638. Makes sense since I got it with a high rider tank.

Looks like I need a 06.4602, and run it down the L side of the spine tube.
