Country flag
I have contemplated my local police dept complete disdain for speed enforcement in front of my house. (30mph zoned)
I have thought of making a new sport. Such as when a dog sitting by the side of the road hears a car/truck or bicycleist go ripping by and then takes off in a rush to chase them with an accompanying barrage of barking..

New sport as such:

Sit awaiting on your hot norton commando or other suitable norton heavy twin with a friend/flagger across the road as the look out man. As the speeder goes by the house with NO car following , if all is clear the green flagger gives the GO and the green flag drops and the HOBOT style hole shot is unleashed as soon as the car passes , then the cars rear bumper is pursued in a fury, never to be seen in an otherwise insane display of acceleration.
0 to 40+ mph in awsome acceleration will suffice to do the job....once caught, now coasting, pursuit is ended and then pursuit rider peals off and returns to start line.

This is somewhat reminiscent of when I was going to work at my old job and would get on the highway entrance ramp with my 101hp ducati S4 monster and would sit rolling along at an almost walking slow speed at the end of the highway entrance ramp (with an eye to ensure no traffic was coming from behind me) and wait for a car coming 60/70/80 plus (high speed lane)... as soon as they went by, I blasted a hole shot 1-2-3 then I was along side them and easily pass on the right, up to 110/120mph and peal off off at the next highway exit ramp so I could go to work. Great fun. I never got to try out the claimed 147 MPH top speed of a S4 monster...110 feels pretty slow
Had feeling of a Mad Max movie pursuit scene...

This reminds me of my younger days still at primary school my mate and a few others played cricket on the road where my mate lived it was a dead end street so not much traffic, we had our look outs and when a car was coming everyone and everything was moved off the road, but there was one driver you could set your watch with him every afternoon right on 4:30 he come speeding down the road and I mean speeding, well over the 60ks speed limit of the times, this got my mate very angy and said to me one day I going to fix this bloke,
There was a heg outside of my mate house and right on a bend in the street, that night he built a dummy out of grass and put clothes on it, next afternoon we hid behind the heg with the dummy and sure enough right on 4:30 we could hear him coming and as he got near the heg speeding as ususal my mate threw the dummy out in front of his car, bang what a mess and he freaked out that he hit someone and locked up the brakes.
After he settled down and seen the mess on the road and about 10 kids pissing themselfs with laugher, he got the message, he never did speed down that road ever again, that was 50 years ago and my mate and I still have a good laugh about that day.

Had my son's Termignoni-equipped Monster 900 up to 140 indicated on the high bank at Texas World Speedway when obtaining my racing license in 2007, just a scant 12 years ago, minus about 2 months... (prescription glasses were rattling around so much I could hardly see anything, just stayed on the instructor's tail)

The ‘07 Duc ST3s will climb to almost 140 mph and stay there for at least one tank @ 21L of high test (proven on the Canadian Prarie in ‘17) , with non-stock gearing (smoother in town) ..... 992cc 3V just a great engine ....

My need for speed has diminished with older age.
Of all places for speed, this is a two part story...in the 90's I had gone to Shubenacadie NS for the vintage TT races . On the way back to my beach cottage in Meteghan, I was following in a line of traffic on Rt 14 and a RCMP singled me out for a speeding ticket. Must have been the racey look of the 92 red Duc 907IE, which at the time was Ducati's fuel injected 2 valve "high speed touring bike". Oh well, $50 fine to mail in before I go home.

Part 2

On the way to Yarmouth on the 101 highway, I was in a bit of a rush to get to the bank for a money order and mail it off to pay the ticket before I get on the ferry to cross to Maine, and go home.
Well "in a hurry" means lay down on the tank and test the theoretical 140MPH advertised top speed, it does as advertised...
Crest the final rise at 140 for the long down hill run to the Yarmouth end of highway and I see a car a long ways in front of me, and beyond that a RCMP radar trap.
Sit up for air brake effect and smoke the brembos big time... to coast by the RCMP at 50 mph and not even a look my way.
Wow, dodged that bullet.
I can imagine trying to talk my way out of that one.

"But officer, I was in a hurry to get to the bank to get a check to pay the speeding ticket"

Good one Dave , got to have some “luck” once in a while when you in a hurry , my big test on Prarie started when guy at general store in Manitoba told me no Mounties on TransCanada around here , go out and pretend it “the autobahn” ... he said if I got stopped to use his name and it would be cool.... so took his word , burnt the entire tank at WOT never saw anything close to a police car that whole tank , allowed me to pass through Manitoba in a day .... luck can be nice at times , Glad to see you mention my home Province , you had/have family here I think ....

I saw an indicated 136 on the speedo of my 07 Bandit 1250 chasing Concours on a Triumph Tiger. Still had more to go but this was on I64 in WV and things were happening kinda fast so I backed off. No sense pressing your luck too much.

I traded my ‘07 Bandit 1250 abs for my Duc ST3s .... Bandit was my first abs bike .... what a great bike , there are days when I wish it was still mine ... great all rounder for sure !

Yeah back in the 90's, some new england norton club and USCRA guys went up to your track for the ? Atlantic vintage TT? one friend had a norton powered sidecar to race. I went at least 3 times.
One year the nneno group rented a hunting lodge in Stewiacke for the races instead of primative camping.
When the AMA featured the mid ohio races that was when all the USCRA racers quit going to NS.
Yeah still have lots of cousins in La Ville de Clare on the SW shore. All on my mothers side. All my french cousins on my dad's side are here in the US.

They had the Canadian superbike series here this past wknd at Subenacidie Motorsport Park , really hot and then wet , reports were of good attendance though ..... too bad not more vintage racing here , still lots of good old bikes around .... we got married on front lawn just outside Stewiacke a long time ago .... hunting camp would have been in Upper I guess ....

Yup-I don't ride it as much as I used to, but it still puts a smile on my face every time I do.

I was told by a wise old fella from NF that one does not argue with RCMP on any occasion because it is automatically implied that they are always correct.

This maybe true , once asked a Mountie if he was seriously really going to charge me while I was in back seat of his cruiser .... maybe I did utter something ‘bout his house .... after the scuffle ( there were 2 of them in front) , I ended up being charged with a lesser offence .... to this day ,not one speeding ticket ever , I do answer yes sir and no sir now a days when talking with the law though ....

In Texas you don't argue with a Ranger or DPS....God told them they are right. I did have adventures with various others when young but the party had to end when DPS came. They really have no sense of humor in my experience.

Iearned a long time ago not to be aggresive with the law when pulled over it just digs your hole deeper, these days I just say hi to the officer and if I was speeding just except it, but being polite to them can sometimes they give you a good break and give you a less fine and sometime might even just tell you to slow down, but the worst ones to deal with here are the female cops that have a few stripes, they don't give in a inch even being nice and polite to them.
My youngest daughter is still looking at joining the force and when I first asked her why she said " so I can arrest you dad " but hopefully she be staying in her job at the Auto store where I get all my oils and workshop tools to new batteries for 1/2 price as they are allowed to give great discounts to family members, but she is looking to the long term future, she has her head on her shoulder pretty good.

When I was a kid, I used to enjoy an adrenalin rush. Six months after I retired, I has a double bypass heart op, then three strokes. I was full of cholesterol, probably due to the 'fight or flight' syndrome. Adrenalin causes you liver to manufacture cholesterol andf you don't burn the cholesterol off, it clogs you up. These days I take a beta-blocker which stops the adrenalin rush. If I race, it is without adrenalin affecting me. Everything happens in the cold light of day - make life much easier when you never get that grip around the heart. If I have a moment, I still get time dilation, but I am always calm and in control. So I just sit there like a dummy and allow the bike to do it's thing with minimal input from me.

Re; " So I just sit there like a dummy and allow the bike to do it's thing with minimal input from me."
When you see crash barriers or a grass bank fast approaching - then quite often, sadly, your "minimal input" will be the last thing that you ever do in this world.

I agree. The primitive brain stem does not deal with motorcycle racing reactions!

I don't know about that but years back I'd pray in mid-curve often without unscrewing the throttle.
Now I'm older and slower so call me 'the Scourge of the School Zone'.
