Bule pipes

Hi,

I removed the blue with Autosol. It works, but the blue comes back after a while. And if you remove it often, chrome will be removed as well and it becomes dull.

Thanks Gents,
Yah, I got distracted or something during first kickover, one carb was way lean. The one side is so black & blue I'm lucky I didn't blow a hole in it.

if you want to prevent it, coat the inside of your new pipes with heat resistant paint. While it will mostly burn off, it does insulate. My 650 Triumph Trophy still does not have blue pipes, nor my 750 Honda.

back in the 60s we would wrap a few strands of copper wire (old household electric cable inner) around the exhaust pipe close to the head and this stopped the pipe from going blue. A friend just bought one of the latest w/c BMW boxer GS. I told him about this trick and he did not fully believe so he placed the copper wire at different distances from the head on each pipe. After a few 1000Km he now has one pipe without bluing and another blued for about 3" after the head. never understood why this works but it does.

Works on brand new chrome airhead pipes.....use BBQ paint.

Blue away didn't work at all for me on my triumph years ago. Blue Job works great!!!

I always wondered why my low mileage 750 commando had a gold look to the front pipes and the 850 had a blue look. The gold went well with orange 750 and the blue went well with the purple 850. When I asked someone at a rally once, it was suggested that the blue was caused by rich mixtures. Since I got my 850 running more economically, the blue is starting to disappear. I don't know the reason for it so it up to you guys to "believe it or not".

It always pays to use a Colouttune kit to tune your air mixture
 Tip always use this kit at night for clarity :!:
