Watching this great series Classic Motorcycle Workshop and in today's upload Dave discusses a rubber type of swingarm bearing in a BSA at this point in the viddy:

Are these used in many/all BSA's? Other makes?

Its in most of the 60's bikes at least and probably 50's ones as well, called silentbloc bushes. A pain to get out but will survive a trip into a powder coat oven so only really need to come out if perished. On the A65 they moved to bronze bushes in 69 or 70 and then dropped from all OIF bikes.

Still made today

Pre-unit swing arm A and B road models appear to all have Silentbloc bushes. All the ones I’ve seen anyway. Don’t know about yer fancy competition models and Gold Stars.

Both of my distributor-type C15 junkers had worn out metal bushes. Silentblocs would have been better than that.
