Need some help sourcing heat shields for my '64 BSA 500 Cylcone project. BSA part number is 42-2699 common with Hornet. Rabers has them for $60 each, but not ready to part with that much.

Thanks,

Just how much are you willing to pay? Are you looking for used? $60 for an obscure BSA part doesn't sound unreasonable.

Hi Dave,

$60 for two doesn't sound bad, but $120 for two seems too high. You know of source for used ones?

Thanks

I don't know where to find them. But $120 doesn't sound too bad for new parts. You really want to avoid used parts for exterior trim pieces like that if you want it to look nice. Used ones + re-chroming are going to cost at least that.

Hi David,

There's always the $120 option and I know where they are. Nice thing about projects is time is on my side. I can wait for the right deal on these heat shields. Chrome is going to be a one trip. I need fenders, chainguard and upper fork covers redone anyway, so getting the shields thrown in isn't going to cost much more.

For under $50 I now have a Lucas MCH66 headlight with new reflector courtesy of ebay, Rabers and my stash of switches and warning lights (left overs from previous projects).
