Hi guys. I have been given permission from SWMBO to get another bike due to her temporary insanity associated with pregnancy. I was hoping to get a featherbed roller to build into a Triton but as I've been reminded, I have no time to do an actual build so a running bike it must be.

I have an opportunity to buy a BSA A70 750cc and I'm about to hand over a check to the seller but I can't really find a good forum or website to help me decode the engine numbers on this bike. The serial numbers on it start with A70L XXXXXXX. Anyone know of a good resource to help me out? Thanks!

if you believe this they were tamped A70L GEOXXXX, JEOXXXX or HEOXXXX

they are pretty rare but not exactly the prettiest BSA's

Thanks Mike, the one I'm interested in is an A70 motor in an A65 Frame. As I understand it, they only made about 200 A70 bikes but they also sold some motors separately for racing. While it's not the prettiest bike stock, it will be when I'm done with it. :)

perfect attitude JMac! the A70s were pretty much an 750cc in an A65 frame - i saw one running in LA a year or so ago - owner said is was pretty viby compared to an A65 but everything relative

I did and was seriously considering it. Unfortunately I don't have any time to really work on a full project at the moment. His Triton is a great project for the right person. The A70/65 that I'm looking at is complete and I can ride it....even though it's a BSA. ALso, - the A70 motor has about 100 miles on it.

Is it the Oily Tube Frame , or a pre 71 ???

Think youll find the A70 is everything a BSA couldve been , and shouldve .
From Noo ONE manufacturer to a Big Zero makes you wonder who shouldve been locked in the Tower of London .
And reading it , half the jouralism is pure tripe regarding Bandit / Fury & everything else . And not just regarding Motorcycles . :x

Link to A70 pictures . https://www.google.com.au/search?q=BSA+ ... 80&bih=920 whichll link to A70 information & misinformation .

Of Corse you can allways fit a Commando Crankshaft & a big bore kit for 960 c.c. :p
