Good morning all, I have started the wiring on the combat. I am starting from scratch with this bike and have a Brembo front master cylinder that comes with a micro switch. I have wired this to a relay and wanted to ask how I should wire in the rear brake switch, I would like to keep the wires to a minimum. I can do it a few ways but what would be the best? Thanks for your time, Chuck. Oh and L.A.B. Thanks for the idea in another thread of using a 5 pin relay for the headlight. 1 relay for this. Brilliant!!!!!!

Have you considered using a LED taillight? you could do away with the relay and have a simpler wiring loom. At any rate, you could wire the rear brake switch to actuate the relay just like the front brake switch does or wire it across the relay contacts, either way would work.

Thanks Jeandr, I do have a LED light that I will be using but the micro switch is so small it had me worried. So you think that using the same relay with the rear switch wired to it also would be O.K.? I guess whatever way I do it, It will contain the same amount of wires. Right? Thanks again, Chuck.

A LED taillight draws very little current, probably less than the relay coil. To keep things simple (remember the KISS principle) don't use a relay, the benefits are many, simpler wiring, one thing less likely to go wrong and much fewer connections.

If you are using a relay for the rear brake light, simply run a brown wire from the front brake light switch to the relay trigger terminal and run another brown wire to from the rear brake light switch to the same terminal on the same relay. Feed both front and rear brake light switch with a white (key switched) feed wire.

If you decide not to use the relay, simply run both brown wires to a common brake light terminal on the tailight.

Personally I have never found the need for a relay in this application.

The only reason I wanted to put a relay in the circuit is that the micro switch on the master cylinder is tiny really tiny. I just didn't think the switch would last very long if I wired it without a relay, If I am wrong that will be good! Thanks again, Chuck.

Works fine on my Ducati!

Thanks guys, I think the relay for the brake light was not a good idea after all. I guess that little switch we be just fine as is and will handle it. Thanks again and have a great day, Chuck.
