Am having the RGM sleeve kit fitted to my 850 mk2.
Want advice on pads for standard caliper.
The choice in the UK seems very limited.
Thanks in advance.

Peter, where are you having your sleeve kit fitted? I am looking for somewhere reliable to do the same on my MK3 which I am restoring at the moment (not been on the road since 2004). I got in contact with RGM this week to ask about them resleeving my master this week however they said they are not planning on doing any at the moment.

AN do a 13mm master cylinder that is not sleeved and cast as per the originals so will accept the original switch gear and mirror, at the current price it is most probably easier and cheaper to get one than having no master cylinder for a period of time and the shipping charges etc that would be involved.

Hi Steve
A few years ago I had a very well know 2 stroke tuner build a racing 250 GT Suzuki motor (sorry) for my son.
he has become a friend since then.
I will get back to you with cost etc once he has done it. He like many others is self employed but I will see what he says.
Yes, got the kit from RGM but was told they won't do the re sleeving.

Looked at all brake options. I have a very original mk2a and am undecided how to go with future work. Thats why I finally made the decision to start with the re sleeve kit to maintain originality. Will see how it goes and make further decisions from there.

I tired to buy pads for Lockheed AP calipers. The carbon pads did not work, and the modern non-asbestos ones were pretty hopeless. After I again fitted the older asbestos based pads, all was very good. I also tried using a single chromium plate Suzuki disc, the twin high speed steel Suzuki discs are much better. With the Lockheed Master cylinder intended for the single disc, the twin discs are 0ne-finger operation. For me, it has to be that way. Use thumb and three fingers to operate the throttle and one on the brake.

Of the two that L.A.B. posted links to, I run the Ferodo Premiums on my '74 with a Blanchard ground disc (to remove the chrome). Those, combined with a 12mm M/C, has vastly improved the front brake.
