Is there anyone in the DC area that can loan/rent me a cut away timing cover for a day? Mail would work too, I will pay.

I've got one in Arkansas, ready to send if no else more handy nearby.
Cam seal bullet too if tape don't do it for ya.

hobot, thanks, lets give it a few days, maybe someone local will show up, otherwise I'll pay the postage and a deposit. will it fit over the longer 69 shaft?

Thanks

Hmm, you got me on exceptions of what my cut out TS cover fits.
Its off and old twin, back when ever there was on a round medallion
instead of the cast in Norton logo.
No deposit needed, just use as long as needed and send back
with postage covered.
I've never used it even though I've nipped up Cam nuts a number
of times, carefully w/o detectable issues.

How bad do you want your own? I have an extra timing cover that is in rough shape, perfect candidate for a cut away, that I was going to put up on eBay one of these days.

I'm thinking $20 + shipping and it's yours.

PM me if you're interested.

Here's the link on timing covers. post41746.html?hilit=cut%20away%20timing%20cover#p41620

As I understand the early ones had a longer pinion shaft and the cover had a smaller billet, but check the cover thread, I may be missing something or the altimers disease may be kicking in.

Builder, if yours is the right year, that is a good deal, could you check the cover thread and see if it is the right one, if so it is a dead deal. I have a friend that can use it too. I can afford $20 plus postage after all I have spent!!! I'll check too.

You guys are too good.

I just checked my T/C and the pinion boss is flush with the gasket surface and the pinion shaft sticks out about 1/2 or 5/8" from the gasket surface, so that thread that says pre-72 must be misleading, because this is definitely a 69 engine. The drilling into the T/C boss for the pinion shaft is a bit over 0.6" Any how, now you know what I have and if they fit, I can use them.
