Thats great any idea if washers are used many thanks Chris
In the mean time I've checked the size and thread. It's as I stated before.
There are washers.

Stay to fork: 5/16 - 26 X 3/4" with 1/2" OD flat washer

Stay to mudguard: 1/4 - 20 X 5/8" with 5/8" OD chrome flat washer outside of mudguard.
Inside mudguard: There is a 0.190" thick, 3/4 " OD flat washer, or rather spacer, that lies between the mudguard and the stay, then nut with no washer. The 3/4 OD spacer is not full circle, but has a flat sheared across it forming a chord 0.085" from the edge of the center hole. This flat is to accommodate the curve of the mudguard.

PLEASE DO NOT FORGET THAT IF USING THIS POINT FOR MOUNTING TORQUE ARM TO YOUR SUPER DOOPER VASTLY OVERWEIGHT 220MM DOUBLE SIDED TWIN LEADING SHOE FRONT BRAKE THAT 'NORMAL' STAINLESS STEELS HAVE A LOWER SHEAR STRENGTH.........NOT THAT MANY CORRECTLY DESIGN THEIR HOME MADE TORQUE ARMS IF MANY OF THOSE SHOWN IN VARIOUS BIKE MAGAZINES ARE ANY INDICATION........MY 200MM DOUBLE SIDED GRIMICA NOW HAS TWO SEELEY TYPE BRAKE PLATES FITTED SINCE A TORQUE ARM FAILED AND ONE BRAKE PLATE ROTATED SMASHING ITSELF TO BITS ON THE FORK LEG. LUCKILY I HAD TAKEN THE SLOWER MORE SCEANIC COAST ROAD FROM DOUGLAS TO RAMSEY AND WAS NOT APPROACHING THE BUNGALOW OR THE GOOSE NECK OR RAMSEY HAIRPIN WHEN IT FAILED. METHINKS THOSE MANX FAIRIES WERE DOING THEIR JOB PROTECTING ME THAT DAY.........

i actually have the normal 8'' twin leader but another problem has arisen i have fitted 2 correct bolts to right hand fork slider but the thread for both on the left is different it looks coarser and rather than f****k up what is there i would rather find a bolt to fit the threads they look good just the different pitch definitely not 26 tpi the correct bolts go tight as soon as i try to start them any suggestions how to go about this thanks Chris ps please see brake if pic comes out

The left hand slider is probably a Commando item then, in which case the stay bolt thread will be 5/16" x 18 UNC.

You are absolutely correct the unc bolts are correct for the r/h slider and all is good thanks very much Chris
