Blanking off tacho drive?

After the usual problems with speedo cable (new venhill came apart) routing an now speedo drive died i have decided to fit RGMs electronic type replacements an put my Smiths gauges away in a safe place as you do with all the standard parts you upgrade. I have read that some people believe the rev counter drive on the camshaft helps to steady the cam by pressing it against the trust bearing as cam revolves. So if i remove the drive an blank of the hole will this affect the cam (I'm running a PW3 in a 74 850cc).

What if anything do others do about it?

Cannot see it making any difference, most racers blank them off, you can buy blanking plates from major suppliers.
