I have a nice set of black chrome headers with black chrome peashooter silencers that originally came with my 850 Interstate. They look very sharp on the bike, however the headers are straight, running parallel to the ground with the peashooters also parallel to the ground. I prefer the upswept positioning, as I have done with the current chrome exhaust system. I would like to try and have the black chrome headers bent at a muffler shop so that they will allow the black peashooter to be upswept. Any idea if the black chrome finish would be damaged in the bending process?

Chrome plating is very sriff and brittle. This is why frames are not supposed to be chrome plated. The areas where they are supposed to flex will not, resulting in cracks in the chrome which will spread to the base metal. You may be able to heat the pipes and bend them. this involves filling the pipes with sand and carefully heating at the area to be bent. Not a job to be tackled by the inexperienced. Mandrel bending a chrome plated pipe cold will probably break or kink the pipe.
