Hey now, look again to see no dark oil mess on hard wrung Peel. Whats on the floor is from oil changes of lawn mower drain spout does not not fully clear lower deck so some drips before i catch it.

Early on before peel earn a name or was linked I had one the most dramatic recoveries using panic rally car heel toe - throttle brake, I was carrying a 7 foot black snake big enough it had one of wife duck half way swallowed when found so put in in a feed sack to road trip a few miles away as it eat posionous snakes, but bag bottom got damp so when stoned on spring greenery a mile from home on Gravel crest I felt a pain on R wrist looked down to see snake had in in month so reflex flung r arm away but snake hung on so had to let go bars to pry it off but sent bike tank slapping right into barbed wire fence so freaked out again with P!! point shoot instinct and spun then brake spun then braked to get back inline barely missing fence and did not really know what I did it was so fast harsh spinal cord level. But does add bone muscle memory and less fear of creeping on out of control states on my terms. What I did learn though was a cycle can slide opposite ways on both tires pivoting upright on it vertical center of gravity. i was proud of my save but ashamed of my fear reaction thinking I should of just stopped as not poisonous just razor cuts and test my reflexes with these snakes making em strike at me a foot or so away and trying to beat them and mostly do but not always so get a cat claw like wound. We had one the other day that swallowed a big duck egg and we stumbled on it it fled but to see over the grass i raise up and looked like a cobra with the egg just under head. Let it go on its way.

Oh yeah sometimes snakes are corssing my path and I do some decent sharp zig zags to miss them then fight back in control.

Is that your max lean angle warning device , or just a goat bell to make miss Peel look pretty ? :

Hey hobot.
Good to see someone out there that rides their rocket rather than spend more time polishing it.
They don't get that grubby wrapped in cotton wool! :D
Ta.

Cheap POS not quite a Harley I started with and disappointed with its unreliability, poor brake and handling and power.

Ugh life on THE Gravel took the new off 1st edition of Ms Peel. Appreciate the kinder gentler machine gun comments. I was given two bells early on after what other forums went through on my 1st Commando and handling discoveries after shop in the deep woods with scary trail bike course put on the 3rd breast support. I never had a cycle long nor one that could lean so most of life time w/o cycle handling sense. After 2000 with SV650 and Codes Corner School I had NO concept of sloppy ole Commando as being anything other than a second rate poor or stupid mans Harley Davidson I could sell off quicker. So here my then no name black beauty wantabe Harley bagger cruiser I hoped would be acceptable in the over whelming numbers of Harleys here and was for wide scattered helpers on rescues and drop recoveries. THE Gravel soon made recouipling investment impossible so just kept to crash about in disqust, until I discovered I could not upset it no matter what I tried and that when it earn a Name forever more.

Note the dust patches on leathers, each one a record of THE Gravel impacts and slides. I did hours of night riding and one of Peel bait fish to surprise are the crazy kids that come out at night when tractors and trucks are asleep and tear up down THE Gravel going up to 60s where Peel could control even faster. Peel front is 2 inches higher than stock which adds extra lean angle for faster turns w/o slip out or hi hi sides and puts more mass on rear traction.

White spots on 3rd helmet are impacts removing the color gell coat. Butt over bars impacts lands one on head and shoulders.

Lightest condition here tossed over by a stump at the trail bike paths were too tame for Peel blasting off into raw woods amazed what she took so easy compared to the special off road 2 smokes Id have to stand of pegs to take but seated comfy on Peel. Ravine drop climb out had me standing vertical with head light pressed in chest.

Just adding that I got SuVee going today so was thinking about this subject while giving forks a silly mm wiggle on THE Gravel with anal sphincter noticing it tipped bike way more than began to influence directional steered till after 4th or 5th rather slight bar wiggle tipping a bit this way and that like maybe 10-15 degrees***rear slipped out about a tire width on just a silly mm of fork motion for spike of fear up my rear, YIKES. ENough Gravel lesion for me. If cycle resists falling right down or resists popping right back up - with sense of fork fight or effort, in a rush it can send a shudder down frame, that is the begins of crippling surprises. One thing brave racers know is best to stay on power to the end and maybe make it by unloading the front tires or just get thrown off to let it straight steer on its own.

A neutral handling cycle over say 30 mph will require same light effort to lean down or to lean back up but once lean angle set by forks can let go and climb around it, lean off or lean completely opposite doing clown tricks, just stays at same lean angle and radius EXACTlY as if gyroscopic stabilized.
