So I need a big battery hold down system for the MK 111 tray seeing as my straps have broken twice now. Any leads to wingnut topped bar system easy removal. ?
don't know of anything plug and play, commercially available. not a Mk3, but on my 74, I fab'd a top bar design using a couple pieces of 1/4-20 all-thread. top bar is a piece of 1" aluminum stock. everything was available at my local hardware store.
used a Norton standard battery tray rubber pad under the top bar, locknuts vs wingnuts, and covered the all-thread with 1/4" rubber vacuum tubing. also used a rubber pad under the battery - TRIUMPH BONNEVILLE 650 750, PN# 82-8091 F8091. in 400 miles, no noticeable movement.
What size drill did you use on that. I think it might be over engineered. Maybe 3/16 threaded bar would be okay, which is what I got luckily. Fed up with my tie wrap solution, will give it a go and report back. Got to say a neat looking solution.
