Where do you find the best quality tools one may need for a commando?
Pics of your favorite tools welcome!

On your side of the Pacific the Rolson ring/ open end spanners and Koken sockets on eBay are good value and quality.
I have quite a selection Sidchrome vintage Whitworth tools from when they were made in Australia and also German Hazel (iirc)

That depends how far inside the engine you intend to go if that is the aim.

The stock Norton tool kit will get you thru most roadside repairs and weekend maintenance. These can be found on ebay if your bike no longer has it. I bought a second Commando tool kit on ebay for not much and use it for the Matchless 350. There was a picture of the stock tool kit here on the forum a few days ago.

Here's a pick of some of the tat I use. Metric works good for me too!
Have fun getting the new shiney stuff.

Nice. Do any of the major brands make Whitworth tools....... Snap-on, Craftsman, Facom, Stahlwille?

Koken sockets

++1

Definitely recomended. These guys make a slim whitworth socket that will get to the deeply buried head nuts. (Not the nut underneath at the back. This needed a slimmed down ring spanner)

Hi

hobot is on the money with King Dick for sockets and combination wrenches , the 3/8 drive is very thin wall 12 point and first quality satin, the combi's are gloss. Having said that I only have one socket and one wrench, my other whitworth stuff is P P but adequate along side my snap on metric.

Maybe one of the most obsolete original toolkit tools is the Lucas point gap gauge.
The little swing-out tab measures 0.015" thick to set the correct gap.

I think I just figured out (after 40 years) that the long wedged tip end is supposed to be the screwdriver
tip for the points plate screws!

Regarding tools...
Is there a Neway valve seat cutting tool set suitable for the standard Norton head that is able to be passed around
on loan or purchase/resale?
I recall a previous post about someone that had purchased and had a positive review of the Neway system and then sold it off for what was paid.
Sounded like a great plan.

I'd like to try it out just for my education.

Ugh, language is so full of convex and concave, positive and negative, hard and soft fittings terminology its impossible not to be able to turn any sanitary discussion or company product name into sexual inuendo. The tool maker named his company after his show winning bull dog named after England's King Richard. Heck lots of us southern American people refer to one of our famous heroes as ole Bobbie Lee instead of the more formal name rest of the world recognizes. My most wide scope use of a special tool by far is my hair dryer never used on hair.

In 1979 I was in a auto tool store and hanging on the self was a set of VW piston ring compressors, I throught these would come in handy one day so I brought them for $26, I have used them 3 times on my motor over the years and a few of my mates motors as well, when you put them over the rings and adjust them right, they work so well, as soon as the cylinders are over the pistons you just pull the lever on the ring compressors and they open up and spring away by themselfs, all within a second or two, no need for screw drivers or spanners to open them up.
