best method to reattach chassis number plate?

I need to reattach my chassis number plate and wonder if there is a preferred method? i was simply going to use small pop rivets with small washers. Any suggestions will be welcome!
 
If you can get the brass drive rivets, drill about a 3/16 or 1/4" indentation in the head of a 5/16 hex head bolt and drive it in with that.

You can tap the holes M4 & use stainless button head screws. Which ever method you use, don't forget to roll the I.D plate to the same radius as the head stock before fitting. If you don't do this it will not sit flush with the frame.
 
I am reattaching my old plate which is already rolled to the right radius. by any chance does anyone know the hammer screw size? the look to be 3.5 to 4mm.....
