have you a size or reference for this washer for locking up the clutch hub?
Thanks
Chris

Chris,
I use a MSC # 60482213. They are roughly 5/8 inch ID -1 1/4 OD and .070 thick. Stainless steel @ 28.73 for a pack of 12. Jim

Hi Jim

Thankyou

I am looking forward to trying them. Good luck with your new engine. Its nice to see people who can still work metal trying something new.

all the best Chris

hi jim

i too am looking forward to trying these on my clutch hub... with my e-start system (QPD) wobble of the clutch basket has been a problem... and hopefully these will cure my problem... however, in researching the belleville washers, i also came across another system that i had heard about... the Nord-Lock washer... are you familiar with these and do you have any thoughts on their being used for securing the clutch nut or the rotor nut?

thanks
leia

I have tried the Nord-lock washers for some things but never on the clutch shaft. I always found they did too much damage when it was time to remove them.

I have had very good results with the bellville washers on the mainshaft [and the crankshaft]. Many Jap bikes use a Bellville washer on the trans shaft. The spring action keeps things tight enough that the nut will not back off. The clutch drum is going to work a little on the shaft because the snap ring behind the drum is not substantial enough to hold the torque necessary to prevent all movement. The spring washer just takes up any play that would result from the movement. Jim

hi jim

thanks for the info... in light of your recomendations, will try the belleville washers.... so it is 1/2" ones for the clutch... and what size for the alternator rotor (i would measure mine, but my shop is several miles away.. and i would like to get these ordered before leaving home )

thanks again
leia

I ordered a dozen of these and that was about $45 with tax and shipping...but will sell all but a few at cost plus postage if anyone needs one, about 4 bucks each or so....would also like to swap a few for crankshaft washers if someone else buys a dozen of those

The clutch uses 5/8 ID and the crank uses 3/4 ID. I keep a few of them here if you want to buy singles. Jim
