I didn't see these after a search on the forum so I thought I would post. They are just what I'm looking for.

They look almost identical to the Norvil rear sets but they don't require the Production Racer exhaust bracket (what do people use for that? I spent a disturbing amount to Mick for a set a while ago).

I'm sure the quality is much higher on these US made ones.

Note the heim joints on the shifter. I wish Norvil had those.

$450 doesn't sound horrible, about ball park for rear sets. Certainly far, far, far better quality than the RGM/Clubman Racing ones.

Did you already purchase that rearset? If not, have you looked at the CNW rearset? Admittedly, it's much more expensive but it's worth checking out. One point which may be good or bad depending on your preference - it reverses the gear selection pattern. Doing so eliminates the shift linkage/heim joint which removes any possible play in the linkage and cleans up the appearance considerably as well. Again, worth a look to see CNW's offering even if you decide it's not for you.

I like the Norvil style. I love the ones on my replica. I’d like those but on a standard bike. Of course I’ve seen all the available sets except these.

They mention offering exhaust brackets as an option. Perhaps you have high exhausts and don’t need them down low.

I sent them a message inquiring about the brackets.
Yes this was at Nigel, with his new Maney style pipe from NZ.

I’m just curious that’s all!

The kit does look nice, but I can’t work out why they made different mounts.

If buying with looks in mind this is important, could make or break the whole installation...

I’m daft but not that daft. That discussion was about PR parts. The rear sets in this thread are not PR. Nor should they require PR exhaust brackets. Compare the Slip Streams to Norvil and you’ll see the plates are different.
Sorry, misread your original comment. Thought you were asking what the original PR mounts were for.

I just checked the web site, I think he calls the Z plate the ‘brackets’.

He offers a choice of brackets (Z plates) for use with or without exhausts.

From the web site: “The brackets pictured do not include an exhaust mount. But, a set of brackets with exhaust hangars is available. You can select that option on the drop down menu towards the top of the page”.

Neat idea. And they look well made. Keep us posted if you go for them swoosh.

Personally I could never get on with the ‘gear lever that wraps around the kickstart’ set up. Just seemed that whatever I did, something was in the way.

Yep, totally agree. Of course, with an E-start the kickstart lever can be totally removed! :)

I agree Nigel.
Below is a pic of how I fixed it on my 500 single - I used the long kickstarter with the extended swing. know it is not a Commando but the principles are the same.
It meant that the kickstarter cleared everything without the need for a folding footpeg.
I also was able to keep the original shift pattern.
The system is based on Tarozzi universal rearsets - of which I only kept the actual pegs and toe-pieces - they are a great design in that the entire peg length is the (very) long inner bush for the outer alloy footrest to rotate on.
I prefer the rubber outer - but just my opinion.
the shift (and brake) lever were made from 8mm alloy plate using very rudimentary tools.
If anyone would like more info - let me know.
I'm very happy with the arrangement.

Edit - single fans might notice the white pushrod tube o-rings. They are volkswagen items that I have found more oil tight than the Norton items (don't tell Adolf!!)

The advantage of the arched shifter is you retain the proper shift pattern without resorting to messing with the shifting plate.

Without a doubt it’s awkward especially with how far out the kickstarter sits. So that’s a drawback. But if I had both bikes set up the same way I’d be fine.

That looks very neat.

When I tried using the T160 kickstart on my Commando I found the knuckle to be quite obtrusive to toe clearance. So much so that the footrests would have had to be further back than I wanted.

When I looked at the problem again, I realised that with a bit of welding and grinding, the knuckle could be reversed, facing forwards, giving much more toe clearance.

However, I’m actually now gravitating more towards MexicoMikes idea...

I don't have a photo but there is a bike hereabouts where not just the kickstart lever has been removed but the kickstart hole in the gearbox cover has been sealed.
