Barber went well for me, I won the BEARS races on both Saturday and Sunday, here is some on board footage.
BIg thanks to Ken at Fullauto for his help, Walridge Motors and Herb Becker of course.
Kenny had an unfortunate incident on the start of the Formula 750 race Saturday which I was also in, I captured footage of it which is near the end of the video. He is on the mend now after some surgery.

well, congratulations are in order, well done
Kenny wasnt expectin that, he gave a warning and stiil the BM rider clipped him, cant fathom that, actually I got a leg looks just like that, he should heal up no problem.

That's bad lucky for kenny!

Difficult to fathom what the hell the BMW rider was doing, one can only assume he was just not looking where he was going! His body movement in the slo-mo replay seems like he 'woke up' a fraction of a second before impact.

Accidents happen in racing and you have to accept the risks. But it hurts even more when its a result of plain complacency like this !

Good racing Doug and a great video. I love the sound of that engine. Kenny I bet he is hurtin now. I hope he gets well real soon.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers,
Thomas

Looks like a very nice race class - is it run by AHRMA ? There did not seem to be any two-strokes or four cylinder bikes. Getting crashed on the start line is always on the cards, if you have a mechanical failure. I hadn't raced for about 15 years and was making a comeback. In my first race of the day, the guy in front of me spread his motor on the ground. I jumped sideways and went around him, however there could easily have been another bike coming from behind me. The main thing was I did not back off as I avoided him. If there had been someone beside me, I'd have pushed them sideways.

Looked like sloppiness falling back so quickly from BM rider. Sorry Kenny , if any consolation I have the same plates and screws in same place after 9 months after a nasty kickback. You must do your physiotherapy. Peter.

My mate started racing with this boy in Holland , he spent over a year recovering from this start line fracas . So I think kenny was very lucky.

Jg

Strewth. At least he recovered. From the video, he looked like a gonna.

Some of those guys must race with their eyes shut. Perhaps it is the adrenalin - not used to it ? I don't know how many times I have weaved around bodies rolling down the road - at all costs, you have to miss them.

When I started racing, Dave Degen's chastised me for leaving my legs dangling when pulling away from the start line.

Actually a lot of riders share this bad habit, caused, I suspect, by concentrating so much on other things, there's no mental capacity left to deal with dangling legs!

But as Degen's pointed out "you look an untidy bugger... And if you don't get your legs out of the way, someone else might" !

Its amazing how close riders can get in the hustle and bustle of a race start, and I 'm thankful that Degen's chastising got me into the habit of putting my feet on the pegs ASAP!

Great racing, Douglas! Good to see you and Herb in a very relaxed element (if one can call Barber "relaxed"). You and your bike are running fantastic and look the bizness. That BMW of Daniel May you're dicing with in the video is a fast one that used to give me lots of trouble when Messina rode it. So good for you for holding him off. It's a 1000cc that's been short-stroked.

And thanks for the video of my incident. Shit happens and I take 100% of the blame. My battery dislodged and disconnected right as I was shifting into 2nd gear at the start, heading into T1 with John Ellis and Timmy Joyce next to me. Imagine my surprise! But until I saw your vid I'd wondered if I'd veered off line or something. Nope... just a rider from behind (Doug Forbes) who didn't see or couldn't manage to get out of the way in time. (I would love to hear his side of the story, and ticks me off he hasn't said anything to me. If I make contact with someone on the track, regardless of the circumstances, I will always make a point to seek them out and discuss.) In any case, I was going pretty good up until then, and disappointed I didn't get to dice. Other than the nut loose behind the clip-ons, my bike was on the boil. John Magyar had a really good outing on his NRE 750 after his own "incident" last year at Barber, so that's a good one for the NYC Norton team.

I had surgery last Tues for plate/pins/screws, and today is my first day back out into the wilds of NYC. Back to work I go. Off the hard stuff and onto the Tylenol. I have a cool little 4-wheel knee scooter adorned with sheepskin knee-seat and NYC Norton decals that gets me to and from the subway.

Thanks for the good thoughts, everyone.

I was just a spectator at Barber but had the most fantastic time watch you guys race. I wish I had half my age and half of your talents.

Thanks to all the riders for the thrills. Kenny feel better.

Pics of you on the scooter, please.

I cringe watching the crashes. I hate to see man and machine get mangled.
Very nice video, Doug! The editing was top-notch. Kudos on your race finishes.
