hey to all.....well after a Norton dry spell of a few years, I was offered this the other day....couldnt pass her up.....very exited to begin resto.....

No...I wish......has been sitting for a number of years....on a porch in Fla. needs to come apart for service, paint and polish....wheel and steering head bearings etc.....winter project....
 
Reminds me of the old Gus Kuhn set-up, that tank in particular.
Very nice! Do you have any history on it?
 
I know the original owners son, who offered it to me. His Dad bought it new, along with the Factory Racer bodywork. He collected a lot of parts over the years...last registered in 89. His son told me the motor was built by CNW but recent contact with Matt shows it wasnt. At any rate, his health failed as well as his son's so, rather than let it sit, he knew my history with vintage bikes so he called me...took me a pair of seconds to make up my mind ;-).
The motor appears to have been apart at some point..the plan is to service it, get it running, pull it out, strip the bike down for whatever and back together as a factory race replica..
 
The bodywork has been painted black....I noticed some chipping under the tank and tail revealing the original(I think) yellow.....so now to decide what color.....I like the black but to be original it would be yellow. I dont see where there were any other colors for the factory production racer. If anyone knows more, Im all ears......

Well, it's still your bike, so if you really like the black...
FWIW, I like the black, too. And the gold pinstripes are very nice!
 
I normally like to rebuild to original, but I absolutely would keep it black. It's way more impressive looking to me black than yellow.
 
Ducatisti say “blood red” fastest color .... not sure .... I got one red and two black , wish the Duc was black with red frame ....
