decided to grow a garden again this year it's over the septic tank drain field and gets light at night from powerful LED blue/white 'outdoor' light on pole so is nutrient/photosynthesis rich....... already had several nice squash casseroles and should have lots of tomatoes/red skin potatoes/green beans in a week or so....i have found i love gardening as much as riding my commando......

I love my gardens have always had a vegie patch till I built my big shed/workshop over it over 32 years ago, 1/2 my back yard is now my shed, but the last 5 years now I have put garden bed where ever I can fit them, my whole small front yard has garden beds both side of it , up the back it all food growing from vegies to herbs and fruit trees, down the front its roses, vines on the front patio and even one or two fruit trees, any spare room and I will did it up and plant something and the good thing less mowing when the grass is growing, I just dug up two garden beds the other day being winter now planted peas, I put a lot of efforts to change my ground from clay to good rich soil and the amount of earth worms I dug up and gave them a good feed of cow and chook poo and sugar cane multch, can only get better, fresh organic food straight out of the garden can't beat it.

I’m not a gardener at all (as many on here have often concluded with comments about my lawn)…

So with my layman’s status clear, I’ll proceed directly to the dumb question: is it wise / healthy to eat crops grown on a sceptic tank output ?
 
Here is photo of our garden from kitchen window , garden is behind lattice gate , about 1/2 visible in frame , all you see are perennials moved behind electric fence away fro large deer population , the veg. portion is tilled and raked and will be planted by end of week …. we had last killing frost 6 days ago and hope that is the last …. broke this ground 21 yrs ago when we bought this property

Well that photo not great , went out stood on bike shed porch and did over … this is our fourth location in 44/5 yrs and our last … guess I need to clean phone box , garden is 40’ x 50’ with 5 strand elec. deer fence with water service , just behind bucket that cover power box for fence …tried again with lifeproof box off …

Well here is my back garden, not bad for a small back yard as the shed/workshop takes up 1/2 my back yard, have herbs growing a few fruit trees, passionfruit vines, dragon fruit, Paw Paw trees to vegie patch, pumpkin patch, tomato's and just planted peas in the fresh dug up garden bed.

I have been here two years and was lucky in that a previous owner had grown some trees and hedges. The last owner killed a lot of plants but at least some are still here. These are some photos from last summer and also a photo taken yesterday of my mandarin tree. Southern winter here now.
The green fruit is called a feijoa. A native of South American but not that common overseas. Popular here and easy to grow.

The worst pest we endure , an easy winter & plentiful food results in twins , sometimes triples in our back garden , cute now but mom has taught them where good dinning is …

I admire your skills gents. I have no gardening skills . Some one said I couldn’t grow mold on old bread in a damp basement and I have to agree. I vaguely recall trying to grow a certain herb with my college roomie in the early 70’s but the memory is a little foggy for some reason …
