I talked with Chris and asked him if it was a position specific tire and he reached out to Germany and their reply was "mount it with the direction arrow the same front or rear".
So, I ordered one as well as a tube and strip from same manufacturer.

I shitcanned the rim locks 40,000 miles ago.

BUT, in the event of a sudden deflation, they are supposed to keep the tire on the rim.

So I decided to leave the rim lock on. The weights were already on the spokes with some RTV. Balancing only involved moving one weight.

About 5.5mm in the center. I had put new RoadRiders on my son's T140 so I measured them at 5mm on the both way front, 5.5mm on the 18" rear.

Since I had the wheel off I put the ground, drilled, and lightened disc that I had on the front before going to a 12" floating; saves just under a pound and no more chrome.

I suspect that rim locks are probably not strictly needed if the rims are alloy, rather than chromed steel or S.S., and particularly if the alloy rim width is at the lower end of the recommendations for the tyre size, but that might be just wish-full thinking on my part.

I do find tyre removal more arduous when mounted on alloys, where they seem to be better gripped, but then again I have to take much more care as they are so easily marked in the process. So hardly objective!

Omitting the rim lock does make tyre changing easier though, especially at the roadside.
