Available tires

Hi All,

Here in the states I've only been able to run across one distributor that has Avon RoadRider MKII tires. The only 19" tires available are 100/90-19. Is that a bad size for front and rear? I have 3.6 front and 4.1 rear Dunlops on at the moment. I don't ride my Commando 750 like a wildman but I also don't want to inhibt its handling capabilities at all. Please provide your thoughts. Thanks!

Get them while you can, one UK distributor is out of stock of 100/90-19 Roadriders.

I’m going back to these when my 100/90-19 Roadriders wear out. A better fit inside the front fender stays. They always worked well enough in the 80s…see my avatar.

So I know 4.10 is the width but what is the profile of those avons? Did tires back in the day all have the same profile height? Thanks

400-18s are still available at Amazon & eBay, but the supply is dwindling.

Last month I received a 100/90-19 AM26 RoadRider drop shipped from Tucker-Rocky. Mfg date was March 2023. Made in UK. I understand that facility will close in December. Supply is likely to remain spotty.

Just ordered a set of Michelin's Road Classic for a bike with an 18in rear wheel. However, Michelin Road Classics do not come in a 19in size for the rear tire as far as I can see. Ordered on Tuesday tracking says out for delivery today. That said I do hope the Avons come back I really liked the idea of chasing that V rating on the tire.

So far I’m really digging my Continental Classic Attacks. Only limitation seems to be the footpegs 🙃

OK, so how wide is it?

And how wide is a 360 x 19 TT100?
A quick check on the front end of my Mk3 with OE rims shows the 410 tyre to be 3.75" at the front of the tyre. That's a 'RoadRunner' though......

Can't reach rear end at the moment :-(

A 360x19 is 3.42", when I worked for the NZ Dunlop distributor we never said the 410 was equivalent to a 400 because it wasn't, add to this our TT100's are made in Asia and about 9-10 years ago the Japanese DOT forced Dunlop to reduce the size of the 410 series as they deemed them over size!

I would be interested to hear how you get on with the Michelins. I fitted a pair to my 920 a few years ago, 3.25x19 & 4.00x18, & the bike was too scary to ride at over 75/80 mph. It would get into a weave which I couldn't sort out with various pressure changes. I fitted a pair of Roadriders in the same sizes & normality returned.
