I am installing a Tri-Spark ignition in my Mk III to replace the finally dead (32years) Lucas Rita. The instructions state in step 5 "When tightening the bolt ensure correct torque and check the fit of the taper inside." Does anyone know where to find this torque value or possibly know it off the top of their head as I cannot find it in any of my books.
Thanks in advance,
Brad

FWIW when my friend broke a factory new 06-1084 AN chilled iron cam. He torqued it in enough to NOT break the bolt. It split the chilled iron cam. AN (pre Joe Siffert) did not want to warranty it. I bought a new factory bolt and broke the bolt OFF using a torque wrench and STEEL cam. BE advised the bolt broke at about 14 ft/lbs. I would estimate that about 7ft/lbs max is about correct for a 1/4" bolt. They finally/eventually warrantied the cam.

I still use and on a very infrequent basis repair the Lucas Rita boxes. Just ran one the other day....nothing wrong with it...

Thanks dynodave. I WILL heed your failure point. You are absolutely correct in there is nothing wrong with a Rita. As stated, it served me well for many years. I started have intermittent problems last season and noticed the amplifier was getting really hot. So....time for something new.
Thanks again,
Brad
