Hey Guys,

Just picked up a used VM34 kit off one of the Norton guys here in South Australia.
I've got to get a few bits and pieces for it anyway so I was wondering what you Australian guys reckon is a good starting point for jetting.
I've got a 71 750 with standard tuning.

Just adding to this, I haven't removed the Amals yet and will be placing a parts order tomorrow so going by some rough measurements I made, am I correct in thinking the K&N filter I will need should be no more than 7" long with stock battery tray?

For a 750 with a single 34mm Mikuni VM carb I recommend:

Slide:2.5
Needle: 6DH3
Needle Jet: 159 O-8
Pilot jet: 40
Main Jet: 230

If your machine still has the "ham can" air cleaner backing plate you need an air cleaner that is no more than 1 1/4" thick; you can assemble the carb, air cleaner and adaptor and simply raise them into place. If you have done away with the stock air box complnents then a much thicker air claener can be utilized. My company, Rocky Point Cycle, offers all the carb kit components separately. (www.rockypointcycle.com), but if you can get them locally you will save a bundle on shipping.

Bill.

thanks for the replies guys.
during cleaning & disassembly of the carby to take stock of my jetting, I found that the top of the air jet has been sheared off and the hole is obstructed from that, was obviously seized and someone tried to get it out. I've attempted some delicate surgery to remove it but it's not looking good.
I've posted in the 'Wanted' section but I'll put it out here too. Before I go and buy a whole new carby, has anyone got a VM34 body or used carb, preferably in Australia, that is surplus to requirements?
